Here is a little question to see what made us all the fans's of the greatest Epic of all time. What was the first exposure you had of Star Wars? What was your first memory of it? Here is mine.. It was 1977 and my mother had taken my sister and I to the Sears at the PennCan Mall in North Syracuse, NY. Back in those days you could let a 7 and a 6 year old loose in a store and not worry about some perve abducting them. My sister of course went to the Barbie section and I of course went off to look at the Hot Wheels or to see if a new Evel Knievel toy had been released. Back in the 70's Sears had probably the best toy section of any of the department stores. This was long before Toys R Them, FEO Rip Off or Wally World. Sears and JC Penny were the places to go for the best toys back in the day. Kay-Be was around back then but even back then they were also over priced. So here I am, looking for a toy under the $2.00 limit Mom had given me and all of a sudden the coolest toy I have ever seen jumps off the shelf at me. In big silver letters it says Star Wars. What the heck is a Star Wars?? This good looking rogue of a man with a big funny gun pointed at me, named Han Solo is only $1.99, with in Mom's limit. I don't even know what Star Wars is but I am eager to find out and about a month later at the Bayberry Theater in Liverpool I finally find out. Over the course of the summer of 1977 this young lad saw Star Wars (or what we all now call "Episode IV: A New Hope) twelve times and I was hooked for life. I am now 37, three decades have gone by, but I still remember that day at Sears when $1.99 forever consumed and engulfed my life with the power of the Force. I look forward to hearing all of your stories on how Star Wars has touched you and what hooked you on out common passion. May the Force be with you... Always. - K-Flan Below: My first action figure ever and the reason I have spent over $10,000 in collectibles over the last 30 years. 1977 Han Solo small head Han Solo MIC news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070315/ap_on_go_ot/r2_d2_mail;_ylt=AhTgpHSbp8DBlrJJptEI.mh2wPIE

Frack, I used spell check but unfortunately there was no "Grammer Check". Please forgive this ignorant wretch for his errors above, the repeating of Han's name in the action figure description and also the misplaced BUT relevant link.

My First Star Wars memory is when I was 7 years old and my uncle sits me down to watch episode 4. I was so into it when I saw vader fight Obi-wan and the red light saber clashing with blue was awe some. I couldn't wait till he put in the next movie which was ep.5 where I fell in love with the emperor. Its been 10 years that i first fell in love with him and I still love Darth sidious. The darkside will always flow through my vains I love you George Lucus!!! ;D

I didn't see the films until I was 10 or so. My mom got the trilogy from Columbia House as part of her signing up deal and I'd never seen them. I watched them in order and within a year I had SW books, toys, games etc etc. I was hooked and have been ever since.
So my first memory would be coming home to all these new films and finding the original SW trilogy among them and being captivated by it.

One thing for everyone posting their first Star Wars experience... say what year it was and how old you were when you first stepped into a galaxy, far, far away. I had seen ANH 12 times at 7 yrs old when it came out in 1977. When ESB came out in 1980, I was 10 and I saw it 15 times (and it is still my favorite). In 1983 when ROtJ came out I was 13yrs old and growing out of my action figures and more into girls. Maybe I thought I was too cool for SW and I only saw it a handful of times. When the POTF figures came out in the '90's I got hooked all over again in collecting something I gave up in 8th grade. I know many of you are a lot younger and probably never saw the original trilogy on the Big Screen. I am sorry you missed it. I got hooked by going to see it at the theater over and over again. I am just glad that you too also became fans just from watching it on video or DVD and I hope someday our kids will love it as much as we do. I hope Lucasfilms goes the route of Disney in the old days and brings the films back to the theaters every 7 yrs or so. That way each new generation can fall in love with it on the big screen like I did and the kids will see it 10, 15, 50 times at the theater. May the Force be with you... Darth Flan

My first memory is when I was about 6 (1991) I was walking through my house and my eyes crossed the TV where my dad was watching ROTJ. It was the sarlacc pit scene. I remember being hypnotized by Luke's green lightsaber and all the action. I loved how everything was going on at once, it was all so mysterious and exciting to me. Been a fan ever since.

First SW Memory: Sitting in a dingy old theatre back in 1977 when I was awestruck by the Tantive IV being chased by a Star Destroyer flyby... I was immediately hooked.
The rest is history.

I saw it on TV when I was 7 years old, my dad is into Starwars but not into the newer ones. The best part of the series mainly Episode IV when 3P0 started dissing R2-D2 I wonder what he was saying back to him since he didn't speak English only robot.

my first Star Wars expierence was in 97, my Dad woud take me to work with him and his boss had a TV room, Well I got bored one day and asked if he had any movies. Well all he had was this trilogy clled 'Star wars' I was like whats that.... so I sat down and watched every single one that day in a row. I have been hooked every since, I also remember waiting in line for Episode: 1 when it came out that was so cool.

First memory was listening to my Dad talk about the movie with friends of his and how amazing it was, then the posters at the theater. It was months before my Dad took me to see it. I had to read the book first before he would take me.

going to see star wars (1977) at the first theater showing for the day. at the end, people, including my 6year old self, cheered. truly amazing.
the most memorable time though was when we went to see ESB (1980). when it was over, we walked next door (nobody cared back then) and watched the remainder of airplane, then walked back into empire to see it again. the room was packed and i mean packed. people we standing up along the walls and even sitting in the aisle way (i was one of them). again, cheering both times.
remember, movies back then were shown on one screen at a time. not 3-4 at a time like now

My first memory from Star Wars. Now that's a pleasant memory. I was 12 years old in 1977. My father took me and my siblings to the largest theatre I had ever seen...downtown Washington DC. This screen was so huge it was almost concave...the Uptown...beautiful theater. I nearly jumped 10 ft out of my seat when the music started. It was bliss!!! The starships, the sound, the music, and of course Han Solo! I was mesmerized by Han Solo and I wished he was my real father and come let me live in his world. I wanted to live in the Star Wars world. I kept newspaper clippings, magazines, posters, anything, except action figures which I truly regret. I saved all the trading cards from Wonder Bread and lived and breathed Star Wars! I fell in love with it all from beginning to end!!! I got t./eased because it was supposed to be a 'boy movie' and here I was in 7th grade wearing Star Wars shirts. Oh well. I was happy. And I loved it and still do. Every May 25th I think of that opening day and wouldn't you know one of my children was born on May 25th!!!!! Now that's Karma if you ask me!!! My oldest son was born on May 19th and he shares the dubious honor of Ep. I & III release dates. So Star Wars is in our blood and always will be. I even wrote short stories of Star Wars while the other kids played kickball. I read, wrote stories and was content in my own Star Wars universe. Thank you George Lucas for making my childhood a little happier because of Star Wars!
