I thought I'd keep the chain moving with my Photoshop version of it.... Wow, Gimp really doesn't look that bad, but I must agree with Linkmax's statement. I'm really noy huge fan of the dark blue one either. Then again, I was never a big fan of that color. You need to bring the shadow closer Mason, and to get rid of that ring-layer effect, I always go over lightly with the blur tool, set on color setting. makes an even blade.

Right after you finish blurring the duplicated cores, "Color Balance - Red Midtones = 100, Red Highlights = 100, no Shadow".

I never add shadows to mine anymore. Linkmax, you taught me that I believe. And Stormwolf, I made that just as Kit's tutorial said how to. I'll try out both your techniques to see how they turn out. Linkmax, how's this for a red in your opinion? I simply just did what you said and only set the mid tone, and highlight reds to 100 with no shadow. And Stormwolf, here it is again after using your method...

Yeah, that one I didn't add any shadow. All I did was put the red up to 100 in both mid-tone, and highlight. Usually in mid-tone. I put red up to 100, and the other two all the way back. Then I keep the highlight at 100 for red and leave the other two alone.

Pretty good, the lense flares suck, but I like how you made the base fatter. I dont think linkmax is gonna like it.

I don't know, I like the lens flares. I tend to use them here and there.

And Stormwolf, here it is again after using your method... That aint my method mason.... I think you used to much blurring. I use full midtones, highlights, and an appropriate amount of shadow (depends on the lightness of the pic.)

For the GIMP Users out there, do you use the Black Layer=Screen method? I use that on Saber edits, like the one I'm about to post. Basically, you make a new layer, fill with black, set the mode to screen, and then you outline your saber, etc. Its more complex than regular methods, but it has some good results. You don't really get the big glow surrounding it, but it does look pretty cool.

I use full midtones, highlights, and an appropriate amount of shadow (depends on the lightness of the pic.) That's what I usually do, Mir'kara. Mid-tones all the way up, highlights red up, and a touch of shadow (in the picture that I showed).
