i agree that maul's death was not worthy of his prowess in battle In darth maul shadow hunter he seemed far more advanced and shouldnt have been killed so quick or easily

Most of the characters are down-played in the movies... It was seen all throughout the saga.
Darth Maul... total bad*ss. He was a master of Juyo and Jar Kai, and spent his whole life training in combat. Then Obi-Wan gets a little angry and kills him.
Jango Fett... if anyone read the Open Seasons comics or played Bounty Hunter... He went through a lot. He had quite a long record of killing Jedi... then Mace takes him down without even breaking a sweat.
General Grievous... In the Clone Wars cartoon, he took on 5 Jedi with only two of his arms. Then he fought Obi-Wan with all four arms and got beaten easily.
Boba Fett... *watches him sue Mersonn after getting out of the sarlacc* hahahaha
It seems like most of the characters were played up to be all powerful in EU, but in the movies... they just were having an off day or something lol

I would have to say alot of you seem to not understand one of the biggest pitfalls of relying on the darkside. For starters Maul got killed because he was cocky and thought he already won the fight thus relaxing his mind and allowing Obi Wan to dominate! Just look at how he spent like a minute taunting obi wan and throwing sparks at him by scrapping the edge of the pit when he should have simply used the force and thrown the lightsaber killing obi wan. Second Darth Maul was an apprentice himself. He made the cardinal mistake of forgetting about Qui Gons Lightsaber. Obi Wan being the more clairvoyant Jedi and still trying to survive was able the surprise the over confident maul. Do not try and detract Obi Wans feat just because you idolize maul. He was a great fighter and fun to watch but in the end arrogance can be the demise of anyone good or evil.
In regards to the blood I have 3 points you might want to think about. 1. This is the first time in my recollection someone has been sliced completely in half in the movies. So there is really nothing to compare this with. 2. I'm not an expert in human biology but if you cut off your hand there is a lot of blood, but if you cut someones freaking in half at the waist there is about 100 x the amount of blood. 3. The blood was a mist not a spatter. Considering point 2 and the fact that the lightsabers are super hot the mist is simply a result of the enormous amount of blood and the fact that it was all instantly vaporized in the cauterization process.

Thet might be so, but they should have made the battle last a little longer before that actually happened. Even if Maul is an apprentice, he still had awesome skills as a sith and deserved to last longer than he did in my opinion.

I agree with the fight should have been longer. It would have been nice to see more obi wan whoop up on Darth Maul.
Is that Peter Petrelli?

First of all... The Obi-Wan and Maul was perfectly explained by axpjedi. Second- Jango Fett was a serious bad-a but so was Mace Windu. Much more than Jango Fett, he was considered one of the best swordsmen in the galaxy. Grievous- Note in the cartoon that he had his chest crushed by the bad-a Mace Windu. Also, the reason Obi-Wan was able to cut those hands off was because of his fighting style, Soresu. The practitioner maintained a centered frame of concentration, undisrupted by the conflict around them. They did this to maintain the calm center where the outer storm of combat could not harm them. Basically, Grievous couldn't touch him. Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc pit.

Really the fight did not last long. I really do wish that Maul would of lasted longer. He was really good and was only seen in that episode. To be honest I kind of liked his character. They could of had him last longer in episode two or three with a fight of two sith v.s. anakin and obi-wan

Why wont people just let it go? There is nothing that can be done to change it. Yeah he was cool and all, but its done... If you think about it, you just wasted about half an hour writing a paragraph of nothing but complaining and whining about maul dying, you could have done something productive with your life ya know, like spend time with your family or hek, go plant a tree... It's just a conversation thread, Mir'kara Garou. I agree, what's done is done, and there's no possible way that the movie will change, but discussion on stuff like this is kinda what these Star Wars forums are about. I mean, if you really feel that way, then just don't post under this topic. (Back on topic)

Personally I believe the same thing Maul was not shown as much in the movie. I would think that he would let him live at least till ep. II just like witch Count Dooku

Sorry, have to say it. Maul should have lived.
I've already been through this topic a million times in the same kind of thread at theforce.net and the same boneheads keep changing the subject.
IMHO Maul was too well trained, very strong in the Force and his Zabrak mental abilities added, he would have known what was gonna happen before that little Jedi creep reached for Jinns saber. And personally, I think Maul was the last true Sith Lord.
My $.2

If Maul had lived there have been no need for another Sith, which creates a chain reaction. When Maul died his death set in motion events that brought the Empire to power.
Maul dying brougth us a eviler Sith Lord, one with 'revenge' painted on his forehead.
And if there is one thing I learned from the Sith is that Maul would have died anyway for failing, Palpatine would have killed him there and then. So it wouldn't have mattered if he lived.
Dooku was the exception to this as it was planned for him to escape.
