Hey, everyone. Here's my ONLY problem with Ep II:
When Yoda caught the Geonosian pillar, why did he not just throw it at Dooku's Solar Sailer? Woould ended the CW's right there...

Sidious was behind the Separatists, it would have ended nothing.....
I'm sure he would have just gotten another apprentice or had Grievious take over. And since Dooku was unarmed (at that point) and had his back turned, it would be 'murder' in Yoda's eyes.
So, yeah.

Yeah and there would have been no Darth Vader and while i'm at it. There would have not been all of the star wars movies we all love now would we?

greivous was trained by dooku and sidious is to lazy to really buckle down and train some one so if yoda trew the piller at dooku's ship there would be no greivous Sidious, the man who waited over 3 decades to plot, plan, scheme and set up delicate plots in order to take over the galaxy is too lazy to train someone? Um. He trained Darth Maul from when he was a child, while he was a politician. He was also mastering the dark arts himself at the time. So, you are telling me that if Yoda murdered Dooku (I'm taking it throwing a pillar at a unarmed man with his back turned is murder in Yoda's eyes) then Sidious would just say: "Well geez, I've been planning this for 30+ years but since it means I have to train a killer droid that will decimate over 100 jedi and be pivotal to my plans I just plain give up, because I'm lazy!" That makes no sense whatsoever.

However, Dooku was NOT training in the Darkside when he joined up with Sidious/Palp. He was searching for someone to explain why the Jedi were so profoundly corrupted from within. Palp showed him that...and then his training began.

To answer the original question, I believe it says that the pillar was almost to heavy for Yoda to stop, with all the inertia and excess energy. Obi Wan and Anakin tried to help, but as it was, Yoda barely caught and stopped it in time.

theres a difference between 'studying the dark side' and 'delving into a sith holocron'
whatever he would have found in the sith holocron would not have been something unknown to the more powerful masters, whereas sidious had those little information capsule things that he would give to those for training. he rarely sat down with his apprentices and trained them personally, maul would be an exception to that however. im talking about all the other 'dark jedi' he 'trained' throughout the galactic civil war. sure, vader was his apprentice, but that did not preven palp from teaching certain people the basics.

If Mace went with Yoda to arrest Sidious instead of the other 3 Jedi`s he brought with him it would have been over.
