ok my question is....what exactly is a luxeon? im new to customized lightsabers and i want to learn about them so hopefully i can possibly make my own one in the future. This is what a Luxeon Led looks like It is placed in the emitter of your hilt and gives off so much light, that with a ultrasaber fiber optic blade is is brighter and as evenly lit as a Force Fx. Plus when you convert to luxeon you don`t have to worry about breaking anything inside your blade like with a Force Fx since there is nothing but fiber optic film inside the blade. You will also be able to remove the blade and hang the saber from your belt. Well thats basic Luxeon info in a nut shell my friend. Make sure to check through all the hundreds of threads in this section of the forum to see pics and read reviews to educate yourself more.

Sorry, I had to pop in and say something. ;D This is some really great intel on Luxeon technology, and I will have to definitely agree with Ultra about what color is brighter. Pick the color you like, and go for it! If I want brightness, I'll go with a Lux V any day of the week! The only exception to this is for the Red-Orange... Get a proper Bin code and you have one bright red blade! and it's a LUX III!

luxeons are super bright leds developed by phillips lumileds. 64 leds in a stock mrfx saber can be replaced by just one luxeon to achieve super intense brightness for a more 'realistic' lightsaber effect.

will it really make a difference if you install a luxeon V without a culminator? the DIY kits seem to have the leds mounted to a heatsink/culminator unit already. I dont have access to these kits but I got a hold of a couple of stars. I was planning to mount them on a makeshift heatsink but it will be mounted on a flat, non reflective surface. will it still work? and can anyone post a picture of a stock fx blade without any film or fiber working with a luxeon? will it even work?

You really do need a focusing optic of some sort. If one isn't used, then your blade's brightness will be very lacking...
If you absolutely can't do an optic. white reflective tape could be used in your blade holder to help bounce the light up the blade.
Typically, any place worth their salt that sells stars should have access to optics for them.
Reflectors provide a nicer effect in my opinion. They reduce the emitter flare by a large amount, and provide a more even light.

yeh that really helps thanks......i have a question......is the luxon or the hyperdynelabs blade generally brighter This one is, and has been a touchy subject on many forums. I say they are comparable, others say hyperdyne, and yet others say Luxeon. In all actuality, it depends on your preference in sabers, so the best way to judge it is to purchase one of each to compare for yourself. It's all really subjective, so we will leave it at that, as I want to avoid that discussion in this thread if at all possible. I mean offense by that, but this path has ALWAYS started a flame war. Best to avoid it altogether. I do believe there are threads around that actually compare the difference between all four types of sabers (Stock MR, Hyperdyne, Luxeon, and EL) I just don't recall where it was at the moment.

are the sabers easy to take apart ] where do you get the extra sockets for a modded saber The difficulty in the hilt disassembly depends GREATLY on a few issues. 1. Style and TYPE of hilt (MR, Parks, Graflex, MPP, MKII etc) It also depends on which MR hilt you are converting, since each one has its own level of difficulty due to their construction. 2. Complexity of the desired modification 3. User experience level: Basically if you are comfortable behind a set of hand tools, soldering irons, and have enough dexterity to handle delicate parts, then they can be quite easy-quite challenging. Now to answer about where to find parts for luxeon conversions, you have a few options. www.ultrasabers.com is my first and foremost choice (for obvious reasons). Ultra offers NEW FX conversions, Mail in conversions, DIY conversions, parts, accessories, and LOTS of AWESOME customer service. www.thecustomsabershop.com is also a great place for custom saber parts, and even MR conversion kits that are aimed at the more advanced DIY'er. Tim offers custom machining (for a fee), and excellent communication and support. And please don't forget incomsabers! (Xwingband of TCSS) he builds nylon blades, and offers conversion services, as well as installation of aftermarket sound modules, and custom work as well! There is also www.fx-sabers.com , Where you can find Master Yoda's AWESOME vintage and replica Graflex conversions! These are by far THE BEST Graflex sabers that I have EVER seen, and Yoda is a true Artisan, and Master Sabersmith. One place you might want to check out is Do-Clo custom sabers. Darth Technous has done some AMAZING work with some very ELEGANT looking and performing weaponry! He's also the man to talk to about a PURPLE blade for yout hilt! All of these Master Sabersmiths are part of the S.A.B.E.R. Guild, which can be seen at the following URL: www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=6402.0
