I've beat this game at least a dozen times and neither side is "better", but the dark side is 10x more fun.
If you are a light side admirer then you will have fun doing the light side. If you are a fan of the Sith and the dark lords then the dark side will amuse you, endlessly ;D
Things I have noticed:
Dark side offers quicker rewards sooner, but less so towards the end.
Light side is harder at first, getting money can be a problem and so can getting better equipment or things that directly benifit you. But by being patient and helping others you can get much better deals down the road.
Conversation and gameplay wise, the dark side is 10x more fun IMO. Extortion, murder for hire, selling children to work in the spice mines for profit (she's a real whiney little brat, so take great joy in it!) corrupting a poor man to join the exchange by graphically lying about his lovers painfull end, corrupting your allies into sith assasins and mauraders! It's wonderful! And I highly reccoment it.
The light side is your usual bore fest. Oh lets heal the sick and give everyone hugs! Boo!
The light side can be fun to play once in awhile, but overall the dark side is the way to go in terms of sheer entertainment value, conversation choices and story. Trust me ;D

I choose the path of the Light (Jedi) because it's much cooler & plus you won't look like a freak if you go dark side.
Plus the light side has better items that actually enhances the skills, attributes, & saving throws of your character. Also I really like the Solari crystal which is for lightsiders only (it's one of the best crystals in the game). If you have your "pet" crystal maxed out if you're lightsided, you're powers & attributes (a few) are really enhanced.
Plus, I loved the light side Jedi robes. The Sith robes are boring; they're nothing but black. The Jedi robes are in a few different colors. Also you get Force Enlightment which is a very powerful Force power (if you mastered Valor, Speed, & Aura [when mastered it's Armor]) that when activated you seem unstoppable. Force Crush is just a powerful form of Choke; BORING!
Plus, it's really cool to save people & the planets. Light Side & the Jedi are the bomb! ;D

I prefer the dark side. I personally think it is cool how it defects the look of the character. And i prefer offensive powers to the usually healing and "good" powers. Though don't get me wrong I use both. But still I find it is more humorous when you can go around and not care what you do just kill people and stuff. So much better.

One mans "freak" is another's symbol of power and control Plus the light side has better items that actually enhances the skills, attributes, & saving throws of your character. Also I really like the Solari crystal which is for lightsiders only (it's one of the best crystals in the game). If you have your "pet" crystal maxed out if you're lightsided, you're powers & attributes (a few) are really enhanced. The dark side has relics that match them, not directly, but they boost different stats. Ying to the Yang, if you will. Plus, if you max out your crystal maxed out for dark you get status boosts as well that can rival the light side. Plus, I loved the light side Jedi robes. The Sith robes are boring; they're nothing but black. The Jedi robes are in a few different colors. Yeah, tan, light brown, and brown! So much more exciting than black. Which, btw, is the best colour in the world. And it looks cool Also you get Force Enlightment which is a very powerful Force power (if you mastered Valor, Speed, & Aura [when mastered it's Armor]) that when activated you seem unstoppable. Force Crush is just a powerful form of Choke; BORING! You get a similar skill for Sith Mauraders as well. It uses 2-3 of your dark abilities to drastically boost your combat abilities. Where as the light side is based on defence, the dark side is based on attack. Much, much more fun! And force crush is not just a powerful force choke. You haul your enemies into the air, crush every bone in their body and hurl their lifeless corpse to the ground, the sound fx simulate breaking bones really add to the pleasure I highly recommend it! Plus, it's really cool to save people & the planets. Light Side & the Jedi are the bomb! ;D It's even more fun to conquer then, destroy those who rival you and create fear and terror in those around you. ;D I'm sure the poster will find this out when he chooses the path of the dark side, the path of FUN

lol well ya you also gotta take into account what you start your character as when you choose in the beginning. cause other wise you could have a force specced guy with facr diffrent characteristics than a guardian or sentinel. so either way i have played it like 20 diffrent paths with far varying powers etc so its fun to see a jedi guardian go to the dark side yet have a prestige class of a jedi watchmen or jedi master. cause he is geared for combat yet is using the force, it challengees you and you get soe interesting gameplay from it.

That is true. The most obvious choices would be Consular/Sith Lord, Sentinal/Assasin or Gaurdian/Maurader but it is quite interesting to mix the classes up with your chosen light/dark path. Sometimes a Consular/Assasin or Gaurdan/Sith Lord are very fun, just mix them up and try them all out. It won't substantially change the challenge or gameplay, but it adds neat little options and such you normally wouldn't have.

I began as the Guardian(Shocker huh Mayhem). I planned on going Sith from the begining. So thus far I am being as evil as possible.
Mitthrawnuruodo - When gaining influence over people, say Atton for example. Can you still have dark side responses and gain influence over him without getting any lightside points.

Mitthrawnuruodo - When gaining influence over people, say Atton for example. Can you still have dark side responses and gain influence over him without getting any lightside points. Yes, it's called "breaking their will". There is a chart, within the programming that allots points for every positive, and negative response. If you are completely mean to (threaten them, degrade them etc) and reach the appropriate "negative" points for max influence you have now 'broken' that persons will and they will be helpless to disobey you. You may then turn them into dark Sith and they will happily die for you. Choose which one you want to attempt, and save often. It is easier the first time through to just sacrifice a small amount of light points and kiss their butts to corrupt them. There is almost no chance of messing up this way. Then, when you play the 2nd time etc you know what the opposite thing is to say, and can go the way of breaking them. Here is a influence guide to assist you. db.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/file/star_wars_kotor_ii_influence.txtGood luck, and have fun.

The light side is your usual bore fest. Oh lets heal the sick and give everyone hugs! Boo! hahahahahaha Dude, that's awesome Well I'm glad you enjoyed it Honestly though, the light side is such a bore. *Story spoilers below for those who haven't played* Lets give condolences to poor Mira for being a weak little slave child, and tell her it's ok, and she can help people who don't give a about her. Lets forgive poor Atton and hold his hand while we fill his mind with lies, just like the Jedi he so enjoyed killing did. Oh Bao Dur, it's ok if you launched a super weapon into Malachor 5 and killed millions of people! I forgive you, now lets go save some orphans! Helllllllllll nahhh. Mira, you were a slave because you are weak. The same reason you left Hanharr alive, the same reason why your life is a mess. Want to fight back? Let me show you how.... Atton, you were lied to by Jedi all your miserable life, and you enjoyed torturing them, killing them. Still hungry for revenge? I can show you how... Bao Dur, feed off that anger. The Mandalorians raped your home world and took your arm from you, as well as countless friends. It felt good to wipe them out, admit it. Give in, and I'll show you how to kill every last one of them, and everyone else who dares try and take anything away from you. As you can see, the dark side is simply more fun.

I am sure it will come in handy. I noticed that when I was in the Harbinger (I know I am slow, but through) I was speaking with Kreia and Atton. I gained darkside points but lost influence. So naturally I was torn. Do I respond nicely or do I tell Atton to stop his whining and get to it? You have cleared that up. Thank you.

You are very welcome. Keep me informed on how the influence goes. I would like to know if you manage to break their will. The little driod T7? Or whatever (I don't even use the useless hunk of junk) is the easiest to break. Just tell him he is doing pathetic job, everything is his fault, threaten to sell him, then actually sell him! Kill driods in front of him, with no mercy etc. His will breaks very easily Let me know how it goes ;D

I don't believe in either side of the force. They all want the same thing, peace. The Jedi order want peace threw democracy while the sith want to rule the empire and the galaxy. All in all someone has to rule over just in different ways. From darkness to light I guess you could say that I'm considered undecided or a Dark Jedi.
