Not that complex, AV. Once you know it, it becomes second nature. Thanks to JLewis, actually, I spend very little time on my lightsabers...i made an action in photoshop to do the whole blade for me, then i have other actions to add standard colors. from there i can tweak it as i like.
It gets pretty easy, and is fun to experiment with.

nice, Magnus. Try burning under the green saber a bit next time, it'll make it more noticiable.

Lemme guess, Nexus's way? Its good, not the greatest. The central 'bar' seems a bit too hard, not blurred enough. There are ways to make the blade without the Weiber method that are almost as good, but they each have their drawbacks, unfortunately. Some of them are really fake looking, others just don't work, ect. Its a give-take relationship...kinda need to find which way looks best for the picture.

Sorry, but I don't exactly like the bright light at the tip of the hilt. It looks too well... I'mnot really sure of the word I'm looking for but it'll come to me later lol. I would continue doing it the first way if I was you. Thats just from a photoshop dumbies point of view.

yea, you can either up the settings on the color balance, which will make a very colored blade, or you can use ctrl+u and colorize it with that. you can also control the lightness and darkness, and get an easier coloring range. I don't think it fades out as well though. The blue saber is one with levels all the way up, using color balance.
