What is the deal with Kit Fisto's underwater lightsaber? I didnt think that lightsabers worked underwater. In TPM book Obi Wan's lightsaber sort of short circuits after being in water if i remember correctly. Does Kit have some special modification on his lightsaber to make it work underwater?

Kit has a special Crystal that allows him to use his underwater. You can even see it working in Battlefront II (XBOX) Wookieepedia: starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kit_Fisto His lightsaber had two crystals employing a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse that allowed the blade to be used underwater.

yeah i think the kotor games helped explain a little about the different crystals..i am sure with all thew technology they have they could find a way to make a lightsaber work underwater
seems like a handy thing to have around hehe

I understand if Kit uses it, but why don't all the Jedi have this waterproofing on there sabers? Even if they don't work around water most of the time it would be a great thing to have just in case.

I think the crystals would be VERY rare.

Yeah...everyone has some sort of special characteristic to their own lightsaber....Mace being purple etc. Kit uses this crystal and the other jedi do not desire to have this feature, therefore they do something with thier lightsaber that shows something about themself

Well Fisto has that lightsaber because he can fight underwater, which is awesome.

Since your questions have already been answered I just figured that I'd add to it. Kit Fisto uses a saber whip while fighting underwater although you cant really tell in the movie.

That movie was awesome. And I think the whip looked cool nonetheless.

Yeah, it is hard to tell, but if you look at it you can see it is not a typical lightsaber, besides being teal it has a bit of a wave to it. Kit uses a saberwhip underwater cause it has more flexibility to it.

I'm fairly certain the wavey appearance of Kit's saber in Clone Wars is simply an artistic choice on the part of Gendy Tartakovsky (or whoever was in charge of that particular scene). I've read somewhere that it was a modification that some Jedi chose to use while others did not (for whatever reason).

Normal sabers cant take the water they can take rain but it stresses the saber drastically and can make it burn out completely if under constant rain and stress for a while. Kit had the special crystals and mods for that battle. If all sabers were like that they would be heavy take up more room and not all jedi can survive a whole battle under water.

Kit gets a better workout than his opponent. A heavier saber = using more muscles to swing it in battle.
