As awesome as I think this game looks, I hope it doesn't get incorporated into Star Wars canon. I hate the idea of Vader having a secret apprentice. It makes for a great game, but I think it detracts from the Star Wars mythos a bit. I think it's a great Idea, Vader having an apprentice. Shows his arrogant side a little more. You honestly think the Emperor didn't know? I mean why not, Palpitine had Mara Jade as his force using assassin. What I want to see for a game in the name of Star Wars is a fighting game. Not like Masters of Teras Kasi. That game was fun for like 5 minutes but it's more fun using it for a frisbee. A new Star Wars fighting game would be great, especially with the tech they have today.

It is official, go to starwars.com it says it there.

Yes, I'm aware the Emperor had Mara, but something about Vader taking on a secret apprentice just doesn't sit well with me. For some reason it cheapens things in my eyes when he tries to take on Luke. I'm by no means implying that Vader was completely loyal to the Emperor, I just hate this idea. On top of that, this new Sith Apprentice will obviously become another "god character", and we have several of those already that have came from the games (Revan, Kyle Katarn, the Exile). Don't get me wrong, I love all of those characters, but everyone always seems to take their powers as literally what we see in the game. No one ever seems to understand that powers and what-not are exaggerated for video games because let's face it, it's more fun to unleash all havoc with before unseen power than it is to simply be a "normal" Jedi/Sith. I just think after a while all of these "god characters" start to cheapen things, and if taken literally they make the film characters (several of which are supposed to be immensely powerful Jedi/Sith) seem weak by comparison.

It would be so easy too. They could use the same engine as Soul Caliber. Hhmmm ... Soul Caliber Star Wars style, now that would be super duper bad @$$!!!!

The huge problem with Masters of Teras Kasi (and any Star Wars fighting game for that matter) is that the lightsabers act like baseball bats. How fair would it be to actually have them function the way they should? The fight would be over after the first hit. If a fun Star Wars fighting game were ever to work it would have to come up with a whole new system of gameplay mechanics, something that puts the focus on parrying and trying to look for an opening in your opponents defenses, but it has to be fun. Something that makes defense easily accessible, yet deep enough that it would take time to master. As Nic Gillard said, saber combat should be chess at 1,000 miles per hour, and every move is a check.

I can only hope, I despise tonfa sabers almost as much as I do nunchaku sabers and the Y-saber.

Some will immediately call me a purist, which isn't entirely accurate. I like the double saber, I like the curved handle saber, Hell, I even don't mind the lightwhip so much as it's more of a weapon used by bounty hunters... but at this point it feels like EU writers and game developers are just grasping for straws. In my opinion, simply turning a weapon into its lightsaber equivalent is not cool, in fact, I think it's corny. What's next? The light polearm? Light buster sword? Light scythe? Having variety just for the sake of variety is not always a good idea. And more on point, how practical are tonfa sabers in the first place? Tonfas don't have large blades attached to the end of them, they typically end in a blunt end right at about the part the emitter is in those pics. Aside from the fact that I hate them simply for being the "OMG IT'S NEW IT MUST BE COOL BECAUSE IT'S DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE'VE SEEN BEFORE", I don't see how they would give one a greater degree of control than one of the existing hilt variants. Honestly it seems as if they'd be a handicap more than anything, if someone got in close enough you'd be screwed, and they would be clunky and unwieldy in tight quarters.

When I first read about this game and it only mentioned PS3 I was going to buy one just for this game. But now that I know it will come out for 360 too, im in gamers heaven. Xbox is my favorite system so i can wait a while longer to get a PS3 Thanks for all the info, this is the best site for it. "I love the pics...I downloaded them all this morning! That one of the Star Destroyer hovering so close to the planets surface...and the Imperial Walkers is Freaking Awesome!!! OMG! I can't wait for this game! " I sooo agree. I made a bookmark at work from the Star Destroyer since i lost my last one when I lost my SW novel This game will be the greatest since the original SWG before the combat upgrade!!!

I heard the story of thsi game is directed by george lucas, so i trust that it will work very nicely witht eh rest of the star wars trilogy. And also, there are multiple endings, but they will most likely be something like... getting killed right at the end of the game, turning to the light because vader could not fully corrupt him (as soemone else said) or perhaps the "secret aprentice" is mroe of a bounty hunter, and he simply leaves to travel the rest of the galexy... I dont really know what the endings will be but they will probbably be soemthing liek that. and as i said, it is all directed by george lucas (i think) so it should be pretty good. ALthough the main thing i am looking forward to is teasing the stormtroopers they now use euphoria so messing around with a harmlass trooper sounds like great fun! I cant wait for this game, i'm starting to want this game more than halo 3 ROFL i didn't think that would be possible, but tis starting to look that way! (Although halo will allways remain the best game to play online.)

I think that that character will be mroe like a martial artist in the star wars world. I'm sure there are martial arts that use tonfa's and i think that the character will be based on that. That will also probbably give the character more unique characteristics and a different fighting style. I might be wrong, but thats what i think anyway ;D
