So, please vote. Who do you think, gave Luke his most important lessons? Maybe he did it himself? Or it was Vader?

I think that when it comes to the basics, it was Obi-Wan. When it comes to the Mind, Yoda was the teacher. And when it comes to the lightsaber skills, definitely Darth Vader.

Yoda had to be Luke most Important teacher. and there were scenes cut out of empire of Yoda training Luke with his light saber, much as Obi-wan did in ANH. Vader could only teach Luke compassion. Obi got the basics into Luke, but Yoda Was the most influential. everything Luke becomes as Jedi is due to Yoda's teachings. But what also must be factored in here is Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. They Made Luke the man He was in ANH with out that background and structure as he grew up he would by no means became the man he is now. they had to teach him his values and morals, this is what allows him to stay strong in his fight against Vader, because those good values were already instilled in him. So it may be a little of all, but anything force related it had to be Yoda.

All of them played an extremely big role. Obi-wan was the one to give him his first lightsaber, give him basic training, and put him where he needed to be when Yoda took over. Yoda provided a lot of solid training for Luke and helped him along his way terrifically. Yoda was always a great teacher. As for Darth Vader, his encounters with Luke obviously gave him saber skills, and experience in combat, as well as deeper training. It was very important as well. And Luke training himself was one of his main things. Luke couldn't have gotten to his skill without furthering himself, and he did exterordinary. Luke is awesome!!!

I have to admit, I agree with everyone's answers on this topic so far. I do think, however, that Vader was solely responsible for Luke's aggression. I also think that Luke gained valuable saber skills fighting Vader considering that Anakin was once a bad-ass swordsman.

And I also agree that Luke's humble abode came from Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

If you learn from one person you ar limited to their veiws. If you learn from others you recieve different opinons and beliefs that you can adapt and make your own. Luke lrned from everyone, that is why he was so balance in EPVI. In 4 all he had was owen and beru, followed by Obiwan. He grew from that and recieved a teaching from his friends on loyalty and father on passion. Yoda taught him his powers ith the force and how to use them. But it is a firm fact he would never had learned anything if he didn't want to so he also gained a bit from himself.

I have to say Obi-Wan because if Obi-Wan hadn't decided to look over him and give him Anakin's Saber, then there wouldn't be no New Hope since Luke would probably die with his aunt and uncle.

While I agree with everyone's opinions here. There is one thing that we all seem to forget about Vader as a teacher. I'll get to this in a moment.
Owen and Beru gave him a strong background and moral guidance as a child and young adult.
Obi-wan taught him the basic skills and ideals of the Jedi, including defensive saber techniques and how the force affects all life.
Yoda teaches him focus, and even hints in ESB about speakng to "old friends long passed". Yoda physically conditions Luke, and trains him to use the Force to fuel his physical prowess.
Luke is his own mentor for a lot of his traning. He learns decisiveness, and how to come to terms with the cosequences of his actions.
Vader not only teaches Luke Lightsaber skills, but how to effectively counteract dark power. Vader also teaches Luke about the duality of the Force, the duality of himself, and the duality of human kind.
He teaches Luke COMPASSION; Luke felt the good that still resided in his father and strove to bring him back to the light.
In many ways Vader teaches Luke about himself. He shows Luke that compassion that is clouded by focusing only on your feelings can be quite dangerous. Vader redeemed himself when he threw Palpatine down the reactor shaft, thus showing Luke that redemption can be achieved even by the darkest of souls.

I believe it would have to be Yoda, for the sheer fact that Yoda had had the most influence on Luke. Longer than another teacher that he had. Obi-wan instilled the yearning to train in the force. Not so much in the lighsaber skill dept. Owen and Beru who are the unmentioned teachers of Luke. Because of them he is the man/Jedi that he is now. He learned alot from his father. Showing that even in all that dark there was a little light and that was he salvagable. Luke had to learn that lesson the hard way. But and even Luke went back to Yoda to complete his training.

Didn't he end up going to the darkside for a while? I'm not sure if it is cannon or not but I think that he did.

All of them. he learned from Ben what and why are the Jedi. Yoda taught him, what it is like to be a Jedi. Vader taught him about the Dark Side, how much suffering it brings. Thats all i can think of.

Im going with Vader. Vader gave luke an example of what he DOESNT want to do as a jedi.
