I feel like the munchkin people in the "Wizard of Oz" well sorta I'm just a little shorter that the both of you two. I'm 5'8 is and i know for sure that you won't see me doing the butterfly kick. I would fall flat on my butt and lets say "I have fallin and I can't get up" would be heard from me. LoL but its true.

Hey all... and congrats Kit on the b-kick... it really isn't all that tough to get the basics once you break it down into steps. Much like a saber spinning tutorial... it's all about first X THEN Y... THEN Z... not all at once!!
Try jujimufu's tutorials as well. trickstutorials.com
Juju is hella cool, and he explains things very well, while also demonstrating real-time.
I've been trying to learn the aerial for years, and using the tutorials combined with breaking it down into steps to practice combined with working with a dude who is a gymnastic trainer... is working!
The b-twist will be something I'll get down after BOP II, but it's really not that far away now.

Holy, thanks Novastar! That'll definitely help with my training. 5'8"? You're not that short. My sister is only 5'4", and she's turning 16 this year. There are a lot of people much shorter than you. You're a little above average.

I can`t believe I'm saying this, but I just learned the butterfly kick.its very sloppy and my leg is not straight, but its the kick none the less. My only advice is don`t wear boxers when doing this kick lol I now understand what you mean. It hurt. But hey, it was worth it. I've learned how to gain momentum and jump. I just have trouble with the kicks. I always get nervous that I'm gonna fall flat on my face, lol.

i take and teach martial arts and didnt see this thread amazingly. the butterfly kick is a very fluid movment, it is easiest to practice it without a blade but once you learn it youll have it easily. the best way to practice is standing in a rear leg stance/cat stance which is one leg planted to the floor while the other is at an L angle to it on the toes. then spin the footthat is on the toes to face the heel of the planted foot. pick up the planted foot after the spin and leap off your toes. once in air rotate around to face the same direction you were and kick with the same foot you jumped off of. this should give you a semi professional kick. you do not need to lock out the leg because the kick is a crescent shaped kick with the leg partially extended and partially retrected.
hope this helps. mayhem/zach

once you learn it it is a valuable asset in fights, and looks cool as well.
