Well me and some others discuss this alot besides the obvious like Lightsabers.
But the other one we debate is "Laser Weapons" in real life.
I say lasers in real life are invisible. They disagree, I guess laser pens don't count as.
Also they say lasers aren't deadly, I say it depends! I laser pen can't kill you! But there are betters ones I'd imagine, I am not into lasers really.
The last thing is I say since they are invisble they would make stupid weapons. Can you imagine seeing 100 guys in a battle shooting guns with invisble lasers.... no comment.
What do you guys think about "Laser Weapons". Invisble? Deadly? Plausible?

I think that they'd make something more like an energy/plasma type gun. That way you would see at least some sort of projectile when shot out of the gun.

Well, hopefully I'm in the bounds of your question.
There are already projects in work with laser technology. There is already a pistol shaped type object which emits a blue light which can melt copper from about 2 feet away. In other words, a laser gun.
The only thing about this different then a star warsy pistol, is 1: It is really close range and I guess I heard it takes about five minutes to melt something like copper with it.
It also needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet or have it's own heavy duty battery which can be used very quick, and it also weighs about 5-10 lbs.

Actually, I"m not sure if you heard but some people made a lightsaber but it ended up killing them and exploding their house. Nothing is impossible and I'm sure in the future it will be used as a weapon.

I as well as many others will never believe that until we see some sort of proof.

in the 4th class, I have to do a personal project ^^ maybe I can try building such a saber^^
but I guess it will be impossible.....

Still no proof. I see then you were wrong.

For a lightsaber to work it can't be a laser. It would have to be some other type of light energy. A laser would go on forever and not come to an end. So you really couldnt have a lightsaber. Take the laser pointer for example. The beam does not end.

Honestly, it would be impossible to power a lightsaber at present given our technology. I read a "how to" on lightsabers by a physicist, and the only problem was energy.
On the subject of "laser weapons", I would have to say no. Satellites with lasers? Big Yes...in fact they already exist. Given the physics of lasers, it would be impossible to create a hand held device that shoots "laser beams" that would dissipate after a certain distance. If you missed, your shot would travel on forever until it hit something. Remember, a laser is essentially a highly concentrated beam of light. So if you missed your target, you could hit something else in it's path, or it would go into space. Also, it wouldn't be like your standard Star Wars blasters. No getting shot and leaving a burn mark on your chest. A laser would most likely burn a hole through your entire body.
Those are just my thoughts...and...this is my first post!

I'm sure it's possible. Intensifying the power of the something of a laser pen could turn into a laser weapon. I doubt public lightsabers though.

i think laser weapons are more of a possibility in our society today. i mean look how fast we are growing, technology wise. and dont they say the government has technology that is 10 years ahead of our time?

Haha lol I like the way you think. There will probably be laser weapons in the future, but they would be more complex then a simple blaster I would think.

One would have to develop a pulse laser that would have a power source small enough. Yes, lasers are the real deal. Sabers on the other hand couldn't be light at all, but some focused form of plasma. IMHO of course.
