I just registered here and I had a simple question about the FX lightsabers. I noticed that or at least, I think that the FX lightsabers blade is not removable yet, I see in videos such as "Ryan vs Dorkman" the blade (after effects of course or, any other program) comes up out of the hilt as if it were the FX blade and rotoscoped over. Would anyone know what I mean? Thanks alot.

Hi Xiade and welcome to the JediArchives. This is done by masking out the blade in after effects and such Her is how a normal stunt saber looks. The bladed can be removed with these stunt sabers too But I did notice in the pics for the new fan film 6 in the morning that had a Luke ROTJ Fx

Thank you, and thanks for the reply.
I see Kit, but I was wondering which you prefer for making a movie or well just experimenting with.
An FX or, a stunt saber. Unless, they're both the same?

As long is there is a blade to follow it does not mater if you use a stunt saber or ffx. Its really just how you want you hilt to look that matters.

I understand that part Kit.
But the thing I really was curious about is:
You know how when the hilt, is just a hilt with no blade on it. No fx plastic blade or whatever that is.
Somehow a blade ignites from it, goes up and looks like a normal saber. (Obviously done with a program) But after that, they somehow clash with another saber, as if the blade was an actual solid, which would most likely be the removable fx or stunt blade.
Now, do they somehow switch the plastic blade back on or, like you said, they keep the blade on, never removed and they just "mask" over it, as you said previously and there is no removable of the blade.

No the blade stays on durring rotoscoping. You have to "mask" out the blade in after effects to hide it.
