I just bought the Obi-Wan Kenobi ROTS FX Lightsaber from FAO Schwartz last week and I am thrilled with the blade quality, the hilt and the lightsaber overall but I have a problem. I put brand new batteries in it when I got it, the same kind, and I powered it up as normal. The blade lite for about a week and then yesterday I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. I took the batteries out and checked the battery compartment for a possible short or something else, the compartment smelled kind of like a burnt circuit but it could just be the "burn in" as all electronic circuitry has. I put the batteries back in and the lightsaber turned on as normal. It was fine for a day then the same thing happened, I checked the batteries and put them back in and it turned on. I did some extensive searching on the internet and in the forums but I could not find anyone else with the same problem. I don't want to let the warranty run out (that is if FX still honors it since they will not be manufacturing them anymore), and the last thing I need is to be at a convention and have this happen to me. Does anyone have any information about this or what I should do?ie:contact MR??? Thanks to anyone who has any info!

[glow=red,8,300]There's definitely something wrong in the electronics...something isn't connecting properly.
We were in Disney last year and did the "Built Your Own Lightsaber" thing...we've had intermittent problems with one of them too...but not all of them...just one...and it was weird...this one was working fine and then we took out the batteries and put in a new set and it wouldn't work...we took it all apart...put it together and nothing...it was dead...we swapped out parts...switched out batteries...checked connections...and were stumped...but it was only $20 lost anyways.
Then a couple days later I was showing someone the problem and it worked!?!? I turned it on and off with no problems...I took out the batteries and put in different batteries and it stopped...I put the old ones back and it worked again...
We built 5 sabers and right now they all work...but that one...is still flaky sometimes...LOL...
So, if you have trouble with your M/R saber, I'd definitely check the warrany and get it replaced/fixed...[/glow]
