Hi there, I'm new to the board I own a Yoda FFX lightsaber (and will soon recieve a Darth Maul full dual lightsaber). I always wondered : is there a way to switch off the sound of the saber ? So that I may for example use it as a light only, or at least train without annoying anyone in the house at night. Thanks !

There may be a way to disable the sound, but I would imagine it would involve modifying the battery/speaker module or something.
I would personally get a cheap stunt saber if you want a silent/practice saber. A luxeon stunt saber would be very resilient to knocks/drops etc which happen when practicing quite frequently (at least they do for me!) I dropped my vader FX saber last week while practicing a front spin which involves rolling the hilt around the back of your hand. Fortunately it was ok aside from a small scratch, but it could easily have popped an LED as it was quite a heavy fall (the vader is a heavy saber after all!)
So I'm building a luxeon saber for exactly this purpose, the only problem seems to be getting hold of the polycarbonate tube, a tube holder and diffuser film here in the UK. Everything else (luxeon driver, LED etc) is readily available here.

Actual it's not that hard. Put a piece of black tap over the speaker connection. The middle pin hole on the battery pack. That's it. no sound.

or you could just put in a bunch of half life batteries or almost dead ones, that might kill the sound and only let you have light, but i don't imagine it would be good for the saber at all.

;D If you want a lightsaber without sound buy a parks saber. Yeah... spend $300 on a saber with EL and no sound. Hey, the good side is they have a Quinlan Vos and Mara Jade saber!

Yes you can build or buy another saber with no sound. Or you can go to Homedepot Buy a roll of black tape ($0.99) cut a 1" piece off and apply it to your stock 3 AAA MR battery pack's middle pin hole. The choice is your. Although I belive you can't have enough Lightsabers, black tap may fill your immediate needs.
