a lot of people use gloves when they use their lightsabers. but i was wondering, can leather gloves rub off the paint at all?

i use belaying gloves (rock claimbing) they were about $30 at sports chalet. it doesn't matter what you wear or not. the sheer fact that you are doing spins with it will rub off the paint. it isn't a matter of what you have on your hands it is a matter of friction. dropping it a few times might chip the paint off... what i have done is converted the ones i want to swing and all then i bought another one for the collection... the "battle scars" are kind of cool. some people look at my obiwan convert and say things like " this saber looks like it has been in a war, it looks awsome"

A little paint off makes it have a weathered apperance. It helps to look for good in bad...

so no matter wut u do itll rubb off? and when i realized my obi wan saber was rubbing off i said it looked pretty cool, but it starts to get annoying, bc i look at kit fistos saber reviews and other ppls sabers and there dont look rubbed off, so thats y, so does that mean gloves only prevent the germs, finger prints, and the oil on ur hands to get on it?

i can only speak for myself when i say this as there are many reasons for the many things in the world... with that said, i dual with my obiwan and two of my darth maul staffs. they have been converted by ultrasabers for such a purpose. now for me, and me alone, i use the gloves so i do not get blisters or nasty calluses on my hands... lord knows i have enough of those from bartending and twist off beers... also gloves tend to extend the time you can dual or spin before your hand gets tired. the only down fall i have with gloves is that my spins with the staff is not as fast as without gloves. there is a learning curve attached to using gloves since you will lose a bit of the feel of the saber in your hands... sometimes fast spins can come out of my hands, and as the rest of L.A. Jedi can tell you, i have cracked my head a few times pretty hard with my maul. use them or not, it is your choice, however the paint will come off any painted hilt where you grip it or where it smacks the ground... i love the battle damage of my dualing hilts!!! they are a part of me, and each battle scar tells a story... yeah and all that mumbo jumbo. point is this, if you use them they will show wear

i have two pairs of gloves. a leather pair with out fingertips for cold weather and an awesome pair of weight lifting/ workout gloves and they are amazing its like having a second (extra grippy) layer of skin.
and none of the gloves ive used ware away the saber any more that your skin would. i would highly sugest using gloves.
