Yesterday, my mom got a bunch of 1997 Star Wars PC games at a garage sale. They included the TIE Fighter & X-Wing games, Dark Forces II (with Kyle Katarn & Jerec), & some other games.
What are the games that you still like after all these years?

Not a PC game, but I still like Return of the Jedi for super nintendo. Probably because you can be Luke... and Chewie. Man, he's my all time favorite.

These old-but-still-good games don't have to be PC. They can be just about anything.

The original Rouge Squadraun was pretty darn good, as was the empire strikes back for super nes.

I think that the first Star Wars game I ever played was Star Wars - Episode I Racer for N64.

I didn't realy think that game was very good on the console but the arcade machine with the throttle control thingies was pretty fun.

Speaking of arcades: I think back when I was in Frankenmuth, Michigan for a field trip, my friends showed me a Star Wars arcade that dates back to 1998. I (along with the rest of the students) never got to play it.

TIE Fighter Collector's Edition CD-ROM. Greatest Star Wars game EVER. One of the greatest games ever period. Unfotunately, with the rerelease in 1998 with the XvT engine, they got rid of the iMuse system (which added more to the game than you can imagine) and most of the wonderful cinematics... It works in XP, but it's castrated I wish I could find my original TIECD copies. I had two, and they're both gone. I check Half Price Books once a month, all 5 of them in my area. TIE Fighter had a GREAT storyline, got you more involved in the game then you'd expect, and showed an entirely different side of the Imperial Navy. You really do start to feel empathic for the cause of the Emperor, and the Grand Admiral Thrawn missions were spectacular. I maintain that we still need another in the X-Wing series. Preferably something like a TIE Fighter sequel (Playing an Imp is just so much more fun!) or, this is sounding like a better and better idea the more I think about it, a Prequel-based space sim along the same lines. None of this Rogue-Squadron "We have atmosphereic missions and out-of-vehicle missions, yay!" crap; I want me some TIE Fighter, pure and simple.

My brother has recently installed the X-Wing vs. TIE Figter game, but I can't play it until I get a stupid joystick.

My brother's gonna put Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II (with Kyle Katarn vs. Jerec) on my computer soon.
I've never played it before. Can anyone tell me what it is about, how is the game before we go back to the topic?

There's just something about going out on a mission in a TIE fighter without shields...more challenging and a lot more fun! TIE is still the best flight simulator game for Star Wars. Yeah, I can't get mine to work with XP, but I've got an older PC at the house that I can play it on. TIE vs. X-Wing wasn't that good...they dumbed down a lot of the controls. Try to get your hands on X-Wing, if you can find it. That's a pretty decent game as well.

I just downloaded the demo for 'Jedi Knight II - Jedi outcast'. It's fairly old, around 4 - 6 years. I used to have the full version but my friend 'borrowed' it. I can't stop playing that game!! With the gore cheat, lightsabers cut thru people like butter! LOVE IT! ;D And I got a game for $10 for N64 which i remember loving. 'Starwars: Shadows of the Empire'. Haven't gotten around to playing that yet One game I would LOVE to play is that old star wars game for atari, first star wars game out. Just found a video of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqiNyCB9qCoYou just know it's going to be a good game with 8-bit sound laff -Tim

None of this Rogue-Squadron "We have atmosphereic missions and out-of-vehicle missions, yay!" crap; I want me some TIE Fighter, pure and simple. I so totally agree with you. I LOVED this game for all of the reasons you mentioned. My original copy of it was stolen along with ALL of my other Star Wars PC games when my apartment was robbed 4 years ago. I've managed to get new copies of all them except for the first Rebel Assault. On a side note....Lucasarts has a patch for Tie Fighter on their website that makes it run more or less perfect under XP.. I really liked Rogue Squadron too and still replay it from time to time. My favorite Star Wars game is the original 1983 Star Wars sit down arcade game that had the X-wing yoke. Man did I play that a lot as a kid. Also, I agree with many of the others here as I do tend to replay all of the SNES Star Wars games from time to time (ESB is my fav)
