Hi all...
Thanks for a great forum, I've been reading up a bit on the lightsabers and decided that now is the time that I need to get one...
Since I'll be using my mostly for display and show I'm gonna get a Master Replicas Force FX. I live in Denmark so there are limited options available to my. Here is what I have to chose from:
- Luke Skywalker Episode IV Force FX Lightsaber - Yoda Episode II IV Force FX Lightsaber
... there is also the new Vader saber but I really want one of the good guys = )
...but anyway, any pros and cons on these ones?... I've head that the Luke creeks a bit?
...what I really want is a Obi-wan, but they are hard to get a hold of for me and very expensive to ship form USA.
Can any of you help me out?... whats the best of the Force FX sabers?... and what should I get?
Kind Regards,
Peter

Welcome to the forum :-) Nice to see a new face. Anyway, I can understand your situation, as I was the same until a few weeks ago. I had the choice out of Yoda ROTS, Luke Ep4 and Darth Vader Ep4...I got all three in the end I bought Yoda's first and fell in love with it. The speaker is very loud, has a nice hilt design and brillant green blade. It is obviously smaller than the other sabers though and is very light. It is extremely sturdy aswell. It is good for spinning in confined spaces. 10/10 I then purchased Luke's. I was originally abit dissappointed with it. Not as bright or as loud as Yoda's but was still nice. The colour was nice though. The sound isn't no where near as good as Yoda's. Some of the Anakin/Luke/Obi Wan models creak. It's not aproblem as it does no damage to the blade at all. mine creaked abit to begin with but no now because i use it everyday, it never creaks anymore. it is very light and very easy to spin in my opinion. It's now my fave saber. Originally score 8/10. Score now 9/10 (it will grow on you) After I bought those two, I purchased Darth Vader's. Awesome coloured blade, good sith sounds, amazing hilt but it's heavy and can be difficult to spin. 9/10. Theres my basic run down of my sabers, as for the Obi Wan, I have never had the chance to use one. One bit of advice, you will become addited to these things. they are awesome. I have three now and want more lol Good luck :-)

Here it is coming from someone who owns every single one of them but Darth Vader ANH and Mace Windu AOTC: Luke ANH is probably your best option in this situation. The Yoda is not full-sized and is not very close to the "prop" as far as size gos. The hilt is 8" while the LE is 6.5"...

I think I agree with Darth Nerdold. I do really love my Luke ANH it is a nice saber, it's light and easy to spin. Probably one of the bests for a beginner. I would recommend Yoda but obviously it's a smaller blade and people may not want to purchase that saber before they have a "standard" size saber.
I recommend Luke ANH

Thanks for your input guys... I'll probably go with the Luke saber... it is the original and if you guys recommend it I think it's the right one for me.
I hope it won't creek to much... otherwise 'll just have to use it a lot ; )
I'll probably only that single one, since I live with girlfriend in a small apartment. It'll just hang on the wall for display (what is best way to hang it vertically on the wall anyway?). I won't be dueling with it, just showing it of to m friends and paly around with it once in a while...

I really don't think it will be an issue. I was worried when I got mine. It may creak to begin with but once you start using it by doing a couple of basic spins, it shouldn't creak. My doesn't hardly ever creak now. You shouldn't be dissappointed. I said "I'll just get one" I now have three and may be getting the Darth Maul Battle Damaged saber tomorrow

Dude I was in your exact same situation as you! I wanted Obi-won too but they didn't have it at the sharper image store they had the options... Luke IV Yoda III Vader IV Of course I took Luke's It creaks and right now I have no batteries in it as of now so I'm going to buy the Duracell Ultra Batteries or Lithium2 from Energizer. Hopefully with the new batteries less creaks will occur. Dude I love this thing so real.

...
Batteries don't affect creaking.

I got it... I GOT IT...
And by the Gods it's fantastic... It's so extremely cool... Everything is great save a black spot in the top 1/4 of it, I don't know if it's one of the dreaded dead spots, but I hope it will look better when I get better than crap batteries for it, otherwise I should be able to get a new one from the shop shouldn't I?

1.) Congrats on your new saber, I remember my first one. It was an amazing feeling, because it seems so real. (Felt just like Luke in ANH).
2.) The forum Frowns on double posting in a row, if you look at the top, next to the reply button, you will see a Modify button on your own posts, so just add to the previous post and it will be there.

Batteries will not effect anything besides the saber turning on and off. If it doesn't turn on....your batteries are dead.
The creaking occurs because the hole for the blade is a little too big. There is nothing you can really do for that.

Tomorrow I'll get a replacement lightsaber tomorrow, I decided to get the Yoda instead. I did however like the Luke, it just seemed a bit big and the handle was to messy... I like the look of the Yoda, but I was always afraid it was to small, but seeing how big the Luke was it will suit me just fine...
