Greetings fellow Force-Fx'ers
I am very happy to provide you all with the first glimpses at the newest item recently added to my personal Force-FX lightsaber collection.
About a year and a half ago, I purchased my second ESB Darth Vader force-fx lightsaber. I decided to keep it unopened until I either sold it in the future, or had a reason to open it. I was able to keep it closed for nearly 2 years because I already have another ESB Vader force-fx I dual with. Well, last week I got word that David Prowse, the original actor hired to play Darth Vader in episodes 4, 5, and 6 was doing an autograph signing in San Francisco, so I went and had him autograph the blade of my ESB Vader FX. Prowse was the first one to touch it after being opened, then it was quickly sealed again.
The event was amazing, the 501st Legion showed up in costume so I took some pics with them and then payed the 40 Dollars to meet Prowse in person and have him sign my force-fx lightsaber. We got to talk for a few minutes where I asked him about the original movie props they used as lightsabers. Prowse told me that they only used sticks, and they digitally edited the blade and hilt after, so in a sense... Prowse/Vader never really got to experience the official movie prop replica until MR made the Force-FX lightsaber line. I also got to share a laugh with him over our agreement that Darth Vader is the boss of all bosses. lol.
Prowse was a very nice man and it was an experience I will carry with me forever. I've included some pics and a video of my encounter with him. I hope everyone enjoys them.
By the way, they were selling Darth Vader ESB & ANH force-fx's there for 250 bucks each. That made me feel really good walking up with a brand new one I only payed 99 dollars for in 2006. LOL! I would say the force-fx now is worth roughly 300, so in the end the 140 dollars I spent on it has become a worthy investment and doubled in only 2 short years.
