Hi guys I was looking at pictures of the clone wars convention and I was wondering why these companies don't make force fx like lightsabers more realistic. The obiwan saber he's holding is identical and more accurate then any of them. Why don't they release these lightsabers?

Because that lightsaber is most likely part of the scuplture. A saber that accurate doesn't light up or make the sound effects. That's why Force-Fx makes the hilts slightly out of proportion.

Do they make the sound effects? If they don't, then that might be why.

I bought a force-fx lightsaber, a Luke ANH one to be precise. In the package a pamphlet said they made the hilts and blades slightly larger then they actually should be, this adds to Korrs post up above, the slight increase in the blade is so that the company can add space for needed materials to make the lightsaber light up with sounds and when it hits something it will have different sounds each time. Not to mention battery space, etc.

Well on that particular model of Obi-Wan's lightsaber hilt, along with Luke's ROTJ hilt. The skinny neck of the lightsaber is just not doable. It wouldn't support itself holding the weight of the blade, and there is no room for the wiring and tops of the battery pack. This is a very old issue with the Obi-Wan model.
