Am I the only one who thinks that it's really messed up how Luke went from being a n00b padawan to an all-powerful Jedi Master? I don't get how he mastered a bucket-load of Force Powers with relatively no training at all. He couldn't even defend himself against Palpatine's Force Lightning, and yet somehow he becomes one of the greatest and most powerful Jedi Masters in the history of the Star Wars Universe. Please tell me I'm not the only one thinking this...what are your opinions?

I concur It is alittle strange how he like is a noobish jedi and becomes like the strongest jedi in the universe. He kind of has no choice however. like he and leia are the only jedi left and leia like sucks so he kinda has to step up to the plate and teach others what he has learned. i doubt however he would be as good as mace windu or yoda and i still think if anakin didnt get burned on mustafar he would of kicked lukes ass in like a minute.

No, he's actually better than Yoda and Mace, which is really messed up. He's even better than the Chosen One! Given that yes, he did have training with Yoda and Kenobi, but very little. How on earth did he learn abilities like Force Protection and Electric Judgment without any instruction? The only member of the Jedi Order who used Electic Judgment before the Jedi Purge was Plo Koon, and he was killed long before the New Jedi Order was created. I just think it's really messed up how he went from noob to master in little time.

Its all EU stuff. He acquired holocrons, found Jedi of old, ect. Keep in mind, there were a few years between him starting training and him declaring himself a Master.
Also, remember that he was apprenticed to Palpatine at one point in time, where he could very likely have learned of the powers of the Old Republic Jedi.

Yes he was, in the EU Palpatine returns and Luke serves under him for a period of time, he was trying to learn more about him to keep him from coming back again and destroying him once and for all, however the darkside did get the better of Luke, for just a short period of time.

He did go completely over to the Dark Side...according to him, its only the love of his sister that brought him back. Its an interesting read on wookieepedia, unfortunately I've never gotten the comic books.

Come to think of it, the same exact thing happened to my rp character. He was originally evil until a certain girl saved him from exploding by hugging him. He was a dark sider at the time and didn't care. I really wish they would have made Star Wars cartoons or movies about some of these stories. After all, that'd be interesting seeing an evil Luke Skywalker.

I have a whole article on the case for why Luke is a Pansy.
