Hi,
I purchased USED DISPLAY MODEL Darth Maul dual sabers from eBay. I am wondering if the following symptoms I am experiencing are normal for a carefully used saber or not:
1. there seems to be a few second delay in the sound effect when I swing my saber. If I slow my movements down, the sound effects seem to be more in sync.
2. The swinging, humming sound is not that loud as I would like - I am using cheap Rayovac batteries. However, the WHOOSH sound of the saber going on and off is satisfactorily loud enough.
3. Holding the lighsaber still, the movement noise starts even though I am no swinging the blade.
4. Very, very faint rings of less bright areas running down the sabers (not what I would describe as completely dark spots, though). This actually doesn't bother me UNLESS it indicates the eBay seller was less than honest about the amount of use its seen.
Thank you in advance, Jason

I'll readily admit that I'm not an expert, but I believe I can help a bit. Any expert here please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
1) If I'm remembering right, that's pretty standard. 2) Standard as well, I think. Has to do more with the speakers than with the batteries. 3) Not sure on this one. 4) Standard for used sabers, I think. Like dark spots, it'd be a gap in the LED's.

Well for 2.I think that its suppose to make a huming noise even if its still cause I have used Maul's (single) at a store and it does that.

1. the motion sound effect is a recording from the movie. it won't be in sync with your movements. your movements will trigger the recorded sound; there are three distinct samples that are played at random as you swing the blade; but the recording doesn't actually speed-up/slow-down to match the speed of your swing. 2. better batteries will improve the sound quality. but the way the sounds are 'mixed' will probably be the same. (the "hum" will still be softer than the "clash"). MR probably could have done more to balance the volume levels of the sound samples they were given by lucas, but again, they just used sound samples directly from the movies. 3. you have a hyper-sensitive motion-sensor. some are more sensitive than others. this is normal, to a point. on some sabers the motion sensor will be so stiff than it rarely triggers a sound at all, even with heavy swings; on others the sensor is more sensitive and the sound is triggered with just a slight movement. even on two brand new sabers of the same model, this can vary from unit to unit. I have two obiwans that have always responded VERY differently to movement. no two are exactly alike; (and) they tend to loosen up over time. 4. better batteries will improve the brightness of the blade. these rings or bands are more pronounced on luke's green blade. with cheap batteries my luke saber looks like this, especially when viewed at a steep angle. but with brand new lithium energizers it glows like a yoda blade. (the problem is the "3xAAA" battery pack in the maul , vs. the "3xAA" pack in the other full-sized sabers with the same blade; AAA batteries don't last nearly as long as "AA" in a full sized lightsaber; AAA is fine for the yoda but too small for a saber like Maul (IMO) the maul is "under-powered" by design)

I would replace the batteries, should help with most of those.
