My wife was kind enough to buy me the Vader Hasbro Force FX saber for Christmas. I am 30 years old and can honestly say it's the coolest gift I have ever received ;D I'm thinking about buying more of them if I can find them for a decent price. I do have a couple of questions about the Hasbro versions though. 1. Should the Sith sabers have a different "light up" sound in comparison to the Jedi? 2. Shouldn't the Anakin and Luke ANH saber be the same? Doesn't Kenobi give Luke his father's saber in ANH? 3. The blade on my Vader saber creaks like an old porch. Is this common? Thanks

Thanks Welcome, It's nice to know you've started your FX collection, I remember when I started mine, my first one was the Darth Maul double blade version FX from Master Replicas. A Vader from Harsbo, interesting, The only thing with the Vader ANH from Harsbo is the screws they use are cheaper from what I heard but that goes beside the point of any difference. Now to answer some of your questions: 1. Yes compared to the Jedi and Sith, the jedi sounds have a different setting compared to the Sith with the Jedi having several different clashes compared to the Sith with only one sound clash. 2. Well from Episode III to IV there is a transition that takes place, for one which everyone has watched epIII or just about, on Obi Wan taking Anakin's or Vaders lightsaber away, and from the two movies, guessing that Obi Wan just had too much time on his hands from his own exile must of been playing around with his former friend lightsaber and modified it slightly. But Yes Obi Wan does give Luke, Anakin's or Luke's father's lightsaber. 3. As for the Darth Vader ANH from Harsbo, I can't really tell you but sometimes not all of them are made perfect, The Vader ANH I have from Master Replicas does not have that problem before I modified it. But yes there are some bloches on the blade, this is very common in just about every FX lightsaber, even the Master Replicas aren't made any better when it comes to that. My Obi Wan from Harsbo has the same issue with the loose blade, Diffuser or in other words the white cover inside the tube Anyways that's good, Harsbo has started to make there own line now since September or so correct me if I'm wrong. But still now there be the comparsions of the Master Replicas version vs the Harsbo version. I own the Obi Wan FX from Master Replicas and the Obi Wan FX from Harsbo, they both almost look the same to me but with a slight modification since Harsbo decided to change it up a bit. Good Luck on your quest to collect them all

I think getting a custom saber instead would be better. Luxeon custom sabers for one thing dont break. Anakin and Luke ANH sabers are different the Luke ANH came out much later and is vastly improved over the Anakin and only needs 3 AA batteries vs 6 on the older model. I don't plan on duelling with the sabers, I'll just admire them and turn them on once and a while. My wife was kind enough to buy me the Vader Hasbro Force FX saber for Christmas. Good Luck on your quest to collect them all Thanks for the welcome. That clears up the sound effect question. I figured the Sith sabers would have the "snap + hiss" light up noise instead of the "whoosh" noise that the Jedi sabers seem to make in the movies. So, Anakin's/Vader's saber is physically different in ROTS in comparison to Luke's in ANH? Was it just a manufacturing decision on MR's part or is it explained somewhere in the story line? I'm just trying to figure out why 2 different designs exist for what should be the same lightsaber. The creaking noise that my Vader saber makes isn't too bad and it doesn't have any dark spots on the blade. I'm actually quite impressed with it. It would have been nice to have seen a little more actual metal used in the construction though.

I also wanted to add that even though the box is marked as being a replica of the ESB Vader saber, it actually appears to be the MR second design ANH Vader.

Yes.Sound effects are different for just about each blade. The Sith blades (Vader, Maul) sound the same, but are different from the other Jedi Blades. Each Jedi Blade sounds different with the exception of Luke ROTJ and Yoda, which both have the same effects (and on a curious note are also the only two green blades in production). 2. Sort of.Continuation dictates that it's the same saber, yes. Luke inherits Anakin's EPIII lightsaber. However, if you look at stills from EP III vs. EP IV, the handle is different. EP IV was physically made from camera parts, while EP III in it's infinite budget cast thier own to match the wants moreso than needs of the Jedi heyday. In terms of the Force FX differences, Luke ANH EP IV is lighter, the blade is brighter, and the handle doesn't have that spiky texture strip down the middle. There also aren't any brass coatings on the on/off switch or handle. EPIII has a mirrored chrome finish, and EPIV has a brushed aluminum finish. 3. Sometimes. Some new Force FX blades do that. It's nothing to be alarmed about really, just the plastic tube rubbing against a screw inside the blade. It'll "wear in" eventually, unless kept in a box somewhere.

I just wanted to update the thread as I have since picked up the MR Vader ESB and Hasbro Luke ANH. The Vader ESB is nice but the Luke ANH is just awesome. The graflex style sabers just have a classier feeling to them

The graflex style sabers just have a classier feeling to them hi there.. im kinda new too in this forum, i do agree when u say graflex style luke anh have a classier feel, i used to get me a 2007 MR vader, but i change my mind and get me a hasbro Luke anh instead.. and im happy with it.. the cons about my hasbro just the plastic parts, it sure looks like one instead of making it less look like plastic, other than that its a good saber.. love it..
