Hey all,
I've seen RvD1 & 2, Concrete Hustle and a few others. However, many of them do not have an intensity of speed that sells me, or the footwork is lacking. Both RvD's have awesome ideas and implement them beautifully, but I still feel like something's missing.
I don't mean to be too harsh, but in most of the movies I've seen the fighting feels more like dancing. The choreography seems to take second place to the sense of pitched battle. I guess I've got a need for SPEED. More specifically a need to feel that the combatants are REALLY trying to kill each other!
There are a few exceptions:
This one has good emphasis on footwork and has a fast enough pace to get me pumped! The "Duel of the Fates" score is getting REALLY tired for me, but the choreography makes up for it.
Then there's this one:
This one doesn't have "Duel of the Fates" for its soundtrack (Thank the Gods & Goddesses!) and instead uses a very cool, Ennio Morricone-inspired music score. Again, the fast pace and excellent footwork, not to mention the brevity of the whole affair makes for a VERY satisfying film!
What are your favorites and why?
