hi, i was wondering if anyone knew for sure if the new Original versions of episode 4,5,6 are digitally remastered. i have heard rumors that they are just crappy versions that george lucas put on an extra disc, so we would re-buy them all. i am going to be really sad if it is. but im probably still going to get it hah

*Sigh* Poor lucasfilm. This is what everyone wanted. Everyone wanted a DVD of the original version. That's what it is. George Lucas didn't want to do this anyway, so deal with it.
Get on with your lives.

I beg to differ. This is not what everyone wanted. What everyone wanted was a high quality version of the original trilogy without CGI. We have got a second rate copy, just ripped off from an old laserdisc and given no thought or attention whatsoever. Lucas has fallen short of the fans expectations, and will probably release another version later on so that he can sell the same movies all over again.

I agree. He will sell more copies later on for one of two reasons. One to keep the legacy going or two for the money. He's pretty loaded so I'm gonna have to go with the first.

Agreed. I can't understand why Lucas would want to do anything for the money, he is one of the richest people in showbiz, but his motives always seem to be revenue-orientated. I am certain that there will be a re-re-re-release at some point. The temptation will just be too much for GL to resist.

If you're looking for SW OT extras on Ebay, look no further than the "Behind The Magic" CD-ROM. It's a PC CD-ROM that came out around '97 (during the lead-up to the Special Edition theatrical release). It's currently the only "official" place you can see all the deleted footage (ie. Biggs scenes) from the '77 film. Not a DVD, but it'll play on your computer
