Darth Vader force FX light saber not working

I got a removable blade darth vader lightsaber yesterday for my birthday, I didn't have any AAA batteries so i did not get a chance to play with it.

I bought some today, and I can't get it to work. I watched a youtube review of the saber, and the guy said that with out the blade installed, when you try to turn it on, it will make an electrical buzzing sound... I'm getting that with the blade installed correctly.

Is there something I need to do to make this work correctly?
