Saber Makers Choreo Comp The S.M.A.C.C. D.O.W.N.S.!! Saber Makers Annual Choreography Competition... Dueling ONLY With NON-rotoscoped Sabers ...hopefully the idea will be solidified more as the months progress. Keep your eyes open for more, and feel free to post suggestions about having this kind of competition! youtube.com/watch?v=LyxlEEyqw-M

Time to lay down the SMACC DOWNS!!!!
I really like this idea. It helps bring together people from the saber community, it let's folks enjoy themselves, it showcases lighted saber choreography and without promoting one type over another (you can use Luxeon, EL, FX, Hyperdyne, etc) and lastly, it gives exposure to the general public and hopefully will bring new people in. I'd say it has all the earmarks of an event that should provide nothing but good times and comradery.
Who knows, some more exposure like this and we might end up with a new "extreme sport".
Unfortunately, I'm not very good at choreography. Actual dueling is more my thing. That's cool though. I can always learn. LOL. After having met with Quinn, Novastar and several others at C4 to discuss what we'd like to see happen within the saber community, I'm confident that choreography like this, and the continuing work of groups like NY Jedi and LA Jedi will continue to gain us more exposure and bring more people into this fun world of sabers.
On a similar note:
This Spring I'll be converting the back couple acres of my property into a park/workout/dueling area that hopefully will allow some local folks to come out and enjoy themselves with stuff like this. I already have a 40 foot "arena" that's perfect for dueling. It's actually a wooden round pen for running a horse, but with 7-8 foot tall sides, a door that closes and blends into the rest of the wall and a viewing stand overlooking the area below, it has "fighting pit" written all over it. We're going to be selling our horse in the next few months anyway, so the round pen will not be used for anything else.

This is a GREAT idea, but due to the limited amount of people with the right sabers in my community, I wont be able to participate. I had an idea! What if all the great Luxeon saber makers and custom saber shop smiths came together to create the greatest Luxeon technology saber seen to date? Propbably could make a saber that was brighter than the sun, and and the most interchanging sound board, with customizable hilt, with changin blade colors (without losing brightness).....

Looks like Yoda and I haven't seen nor heard of much interest with this... ...doesn't mean I'm "quitting" the idea, but--you know--without a decent group, there won't be much to do, nor to build upon. Plus, it would not warrant the logistics that would need to occur: * Rules / Guidelines (which have actually been worked on by myself--extensively) * Organization & Structure (which has also been theorized by myself, but... I won't be putting it all into action unless it's worth it) * Management & Maintenance (well, SOMEone will need to organize entries, allow for comments, voting, etc.) * Prizes / Goals / etc. (if it is solely about prizes... I think it's not such a good thing. But, they would be a part of things) * Group efforts (hopefully, we can do some "Donation Duels" where all entry fees go to some cause or charity... and the winner chooses their charity!) Anyhow. I'm simply one man. So is Yoda. This will not happen with only one or two people. Myself--I'm stretched thin as it is! Alright... enough of all that.. we'll see what happens from here.

For this site, I do believe it's the lack of traffic this place sees. You will get more response on TCSS.
