It is different but not as much as you think. As per his manuals on his site... his blade is like a mix of Corbin's and Ultra's. He puts the first layer of Corbin's then a couple more layers of a film like Ultra's, whether it's mylar, PolyP, or acetate... Jonnywar, he can't "grind it down"... he's in france and uses 25 mm metric sizes. That's smaller than an inch, same as the MR blades. If you wanted a 1" version you'd have to send him the PolyC blade or do it yourself here. I keep seeing pics of your improved diffusion blades Erv, and they look totally different from anything else that I have seen...I wish I could see one lit up in person, but my Luxeon Luke ROTJ is made to take a stock MR blade... -Kyp

Actually I did machine an emitter for Kit who owns a 1" blade from ultrasabers. Ultra gave me the machining size of his emitter, and I did the same. Perfect result. My last accurate measurements showed that my blade and ultra are similar in OD. I'm buying 25/21 mm but I get an OD of 25.30 mm or so. Ultra's blade is supposed to be 1" but his machining goes to 0.996" = 25.29 mm. An MR fits that perfectly as well. So, despite I prefer to machine an emitter with the future blade in hand, it's not a problem to do "blind machining". It is different but not as much as you think. Hi all... Nova here...
Just wanted to chime in to say that Erv's board is pretty darn cool! Especially fun to "tweak" the config.txt values so that you get exactly what you want to see.
My only wish NOW is (naturally) that his board was able to spit out more than 1.3A so that I could take full advantage of a K2 green (or blue, cyan, etc.) and run it at the "full" 1500ma, aka 1.5A.
Still... the extra 0.2a would not be something the eye could detect. Nice thing is... you can see the difference between a saber driven at 0.8A and 1.3A. It's definitely a visual difference, albeit not DRASTIC.
For those who do not know what I'm talking about, this is just how LEDs work... they are CURRENT HUNGRY... not much on voltage.
But my Plecter saber is a lovely one, and I'm curious to see what differing diffuser films (newer style ones) will add to things.
I'm hoping to try something new soon.

Didn't want to create a whole new topic for this... it never hurts to show more stuff. Here's a really short clip of one of my plecterlabs sabers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHQX6Hgk_uAThat is a Luxeon III Royal Blue in a Vintage Graflex run by Erv's Duo board (V.1.1) @6v (2 CR123's). I guess the only other thing to comment on is I lowered the hum a third if I remember correctly. I like throaty hums more. I'd appreciate if this wasn't paraded around other forums either.

And the V2 board is for sale!
Not too many DIY'ers here but it's worth a post I guess. I already ordered mine. ;D
Working on my hilt for the V1.2 board now.

a customer sent me a little video of the saber he made using CF V2... I'm so pleased to see the force effect executed by someone else !!! he does it with the two hands, but the best looking way to do it is to push away the saber from your body while pressing the aux button (let's say left hand at 9'o clock) while "pushing" virtually your opponent with the right hand (at 12' o clock). The clash effect and movie flicker are not well displayed on the video, I suppose it's been made with a 15 frame/sec webcam. Thalree Saber on youtubeI'll be soon posting some pics and video of my last saber, designed specially for Celebration Europe, it will have everything CF proposes : force effect, blinking LED bargraph, luxeon K2 @1500 mA (or lux V I don't know yet), loud as xxx, recharge port, rumbling force feeback motor and 4 bank of sounds, with droid voice selection menu. I'll soon add something specific to this saber : an audio player !!! (let's play the imperial march whenever you want it during a convention !) Erv'

the polyC, tip, magic film and semi-reflective mirror come for my place, but I don't think the customer has installed the second film inside, cause the blade is not fully even. So I guess we can say that it's not a "Plecter Blade" like the one I build (OMG, I have a brand name for blade as well !!! ) Erv'

Hey kit, can we buy one already assembled, or do we do that ourselves?

Hey kit, can we buy one already assembled, or do we do that ourselves? Both. A saber made by Erv will be in the $400+ range though. Also he's really busy, it'll be months before he can do more.

All I have at the moment are stock MR sabers and Ultrasaber customs. I'm really interested in a Plecterlabs now though. I first saw them on a youtube video that Novastar did and was blown away! I contacted Erv through the menu on the plecterlabs website and am now just waiting patiently for a response. Even if the waiting list is 3+ months and a $400+ price tag I think it'll be well worth it PS I'm completely new to these lightsabers in general and only about 2 months ago got my first MR and then realized how huge the custom market is for sabers. So bear with me if I wind up saying noobish stuff.
