i enjoyed the movie very much. not considering that it wasnt staying 100% to the history of the situation, (i've done extensive studies of Sparta several years ago, so I know a good bit, no expert but a good bit).
but as far as the strange people, I could somewhat understand where they got that, there were likely people who had extreme deformaties, and they were used in battle for more psychological effect than battle effectiveness. I think it was meant to show that the Spartans were facing down an army that had members from all across the known world.
but as far as historical accuracy, i'd say it was around 50%

It was FANTASTIC -Lord Vader What is wrong with his language? He didn't say anything wrong, or offensive. The movie was "orgasmic". I use that word for goals scored in football or feats achieved in video games etc. It's not even a "dirty" word. Perhaps I'm missing something. Anyhow, I enjoyed learning about the battle in Ancient History classes. The whole thing is fascinating and I'd like to see the film one day. I'll most likely wait until it comes to TMN for free. I'm not one to go out to movies.

BEST MOVIE EVER.
A true mans movie, forget Jedi i wanna be a Spartan.
i have taken ancient history classes and while they did stray from true history in details in was still an awesome story.
Such a good movie

ya there seem to be a few people in the world pissed about how it strayed from its accuracy.
I think its dumb to complain about it, this movie WAS NOT made from the History, it was made from Frank Miller's graphic Novel, its not meant to be a true account of the Battle at Thermapylae. Its meant to be for entertainment why to people have to be such cynics?
and Did you hear about how Iranians are upset that the Persians looked like bad guys in the movie? Oh well what ya gonna do there will always be someone to complain

Fantastic and perfect just seem like an understatement to me for this movie. I really didnt think i used that word in a mean way. You just took it badly. And no worries, no offence taken, i hope you took no offence to it? But yes, the movie was as i said it, my opinion. though rape isnt something i tollerate...

I was angry at all the complaints for a while. Namely people that were complaining about it looking like a comic book (gee I wonder why?), saying it wasn't historically accurate (*Gasp* Say it ain't so!), or people saying it is a racist movie (at that point you're grasping for straws in my opinion) but I quickly got over it. Let them say whatever they want about it, they're entitled to their own opinions. The only way I'll get upset again is if people start labeling me as a racist for liking the film (again I think it's completely absurd to say the movie is racist). I think there's just a lot of people that miss the big picture, and the fact that the Spartans are intended to be larger than life (like the Greek myths) as opposed to a realistic portrayal.

This movie is, by far, the best movie that I have seen this year. A definite buy when it hits DVD.

300 was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life. It was visually stunning, the story was incredible, the acting was awesome and it made you feel. Not many movies really make you feel some thing. I would put this movie in my “top 3 favorite movies of all time”.

Other than Star Wars, this type of flik is the best. I think that this one is in close with Gladiator and Troy in my top 5 list. 300 had lots of action and the movie still had purpose, not many people can still pull that off these days for what ever reason(ex. Crank). This movie rocks and I will be going to see it again tonight!

ya, i agree, it wasnt meant to be a historical portrayal. i cant say it enough, i loved this movie.
Cyrus: no it was far more than 25,000. it was at least 100,000 and some estimates are even as high as 2,000,000. but the one i've seen most often as the estimate was between 100-300,000. and there were a lot more there than 300 spartans. there were 7,300 greeks there. 300 spartans leading the defense, and 7,000 others, 1,000 of those were guarding the goat pass, and fled when the persians came along the path, thereby allowing them to get behind the force at Thermo. but only the 300 spartans and a few others died on the third day of battle, the rest retreated to warn Athens and Sparta. the 300 stayed behind to buy them time. and there was also a significant naval battle taking place in conjunction with this battle. the athenians had an outnumbered navy protecting the coast of Thermo. from the persian navy, so they couldnt get behind them that way.
lol. ya, i've done a lot of studying about this over the years
