Like I said, I'll respect your opinion if you don't like the movie, it's definitely not for everybody. But CGI muscles? Are you high? I realize not everyone kept up with the movie as extensively as I did, but the actors went through one of the most grueling training regimens ever. On top of that, Gerard Butler (Leonidas) was working out with his own personal trainer every day as well in addition to the regular training sessions. Seriously, go check out the 300 video journals and look at the stuff they did. Oh, and in a recent interview he clarified that the muscle was all him, and that was ego aside (or supposedly).

lmao at Sidious..."I suppose you'd be the only one of us NOT to break a sweat in a game of Russsian Roullette" that was funny.
but about the historically accurate Phalanx, it really wasnt. but it was close enough. they were fairly accurate until it showed them breaking ranks, the moment you do that, you've killed the entire Phalanx. the first row it meant to hold the enemy off with their sheilds while holding their spears below their shields and attack the enemy lower body with them, while the second row, stabs over the first rows shoulders attacking the enemy upper bodies. they only resorted to the swords (really their short-swords) when they lost their spear.
but this doesnt take ANYTHING away from the movie being great. but i think everyone here knows what i, and others, think about the movie

The weird lighting came into it because it made him look more defined than you would usually get on screen.
He must have trained like a , not everyone gets that shape no matter how much they train lol

Well the all out breaking of ranks was used as a las rersort, and a sword was only used if the spear was broken or lost.
But in a Phalanx, first you hold the line. At this time the second row goes over the top stabbing down and between the front line shields stabbing out. In the movie the spears were a bit shorter than what was really used.
But the method of opening up and then closing again was a very useful strategy, afterall you cant play defense forever it will tire you out and overcome you especially against superior numbers. The Hoplites would usually beging to push or bump/shove giving some space, then open up launch an attack and immediately close ranks again. A good Phalanx (Spartans) Moved as one and looked as a machine on the field.

I think that's partly the effect of the muted colors they used on everything.

;D Oh 300 was the best I was smileing through out the whole movie. It made me wanna get back inline and see it again even though I'm a Woman I loved it. The graphics where superb be on compare I'm glad I saw it instead of TMNT. The woman nudity didn't bother me at all but I loved seeing all those 6 packs. My favorite parts are when the Spartans say I think they are thristy and then they push them into the sea. Then my other part was when they pushed their way though the persians killing them one by one. I would give this movie a 10 out of 10 because it kept me wanting more. ;D ;D ;D
