OK this one I went all out,and learned the saber clashing, the saber pulse, and masting to cover op things (like when a saber swings behind your back.. Now all I have to learn is force lightning and the circle is complete,I can do just about all the lightsaber effects in AE7 I made the bladed a little fat on purpose this time,.but next video I'm going to do some skinny blades.. I'm very proud of the, even though its only 20 sec.. Please post feedback.. 3 NEW VERSIONS AND COLORS 5-18-06 ALL 2 ARE IN SAME VIDEO CLIP) 1ST IS MY BEST YET www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmjU6xMu19E

Since I do this too I'm probably overly critical. Please don't take offense. The sabers don't have much glow to them. I just looks like a thin line of color around them. The clash and sound are great though. The rotoscoping is really good too. It was well mapped to cover the prop blades I just think you might want to look into doing the effects so the saber effect is more dramatic. But maybe a more actiony fight next time too. This is just my oppion. All of this is meant to be constructive. I'm glad more people are getting into this it'll be great to be able to watch more fan made films. BTW lightning is easy to do theres an effect built into AE. But if you need help with anything I'll do what I can to help.

Well can U give me advice on better glows? I make a blades mask and duplacate the layer 4 times and put more blur on each one, then add the color..is there a better way..
I read and used the FLICKERING file fromryan w but It didnt show up for some reasom too, that would have helped..
So I will work on making my bladed skiner that was I can add much glow with out them looking overly fat..

That looks a lot better. You may want to try the feather method just to see how the results turn out. I like that way but thats just me. I can help you with that later.

Wow, I thought that was pretty good. It must take awhile to make those type of battles with the lightsaber glow and all.

I'm going to assume that this video is a tech demonstration first and foremost, and In that light, it was really good. Excellent Saber effects.

To see a video tutorial on how its done check the 2st video (Batkins AE Tut1) forcefx.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=filmmaking&action=display&thread=1147597674that is some really good stuff Thanks for the kind words, this was my 1st real attempt at doing all the eliments together (Roto, pulse, clash and sound)
