I managed to work how to do it using the tutorial that was posted elsewhere. I'm still practicing so if anyone has any constructive criticisms, feel free to let me know. The first isn't all that great... too small. This one looks a bit better. In both, I tried to give the impression that light was cast from the blade onto the smoke (which was simply airbrushed in and blurred). At any rate, opinions are welcome. ;D Edit: I just realized I omitted a few steps. I'll post a new pic when I fix this.

not bad, much better than I would be able to do It's nowhere near what I'd like it to be, but it gets the idea across... the larger one in particular. These were created in a combination of Photoshop and After Effects. Edit-- In the earlier pics, I had forgotten to duplicate the "burn" layers and adjust the blurs to create a glow. I have since done this to one of them and it made a big difference.

The last one is definitely very impressive. The job on the saber is top-notch as well. ;D
