Try switching (temporarily) to 16 bit. Probably won't do anything, but its still something to try.
Other than that you might want to try troubleshooting it with Adobe or doing a google search on the topic.

Either Google, or upgrade to XP.

(off-topic) I don't really consider Vista an Upgrade.
(on-topic) I really don't know what your problem is. Once I had to wait 20 minutes for AE CS3 to start, but I just don't know. :/

I'm with Linkmax, and I'm an engineering student. I actually prefer Linux myself, but I run XP most of the time. On that count, Ebay is generally a good place to find copies of XP, thats where my mom found her copy of Office 2003.
If 7.0 will run on Vista, try it. I personally haven't upgraded to CS3 so I don't know too many of the problems on it, but its been around long enough that most of the bugs should have been reported.
I would suggest - before trying 7.0 - to start CS3 again and open the task manager to see if its running. Its generally a good thing to check that first. I'd recommend Adobe's website before Google.

Now that problem would have to do with your video drivers. Do you know what model your video card is?
