This piece of fan-fiction combines some canon Star Wars with non-canon Star Wars, and involves the Vector series.
She had spent the last twenty years within the company of devoted followers and loved ones. But when Alena chose to leave her husband, Emperor to the PDS throne, she found her allies were rare and few, and the direction in her life was fading fast. Abandoning the Vader name and its legacy, Alena searched for a purpose apart from the darkside's calling. But she would later discover that the darkside was something she could not escape. The first few months difted by slowly. Wandering the galaxy alone, Alena carried out her own missions. She sought redemption for the evils she had committed in the name of the Empire, even undoing some of the work of the PDS. But despite her pursuit of righteousness, Alena found her efforts unfulfilling. This progressed until she traveled to the Outer Rim, falling upon an unidentified moon orbitting Urellis. Its mystery drew Alena's curiosity. Later she would realize that the Force had revealed the hidden moon to her.
The moon appeared to be uninhabited. It was covered in desert lands, as well as abandoned temples and ruins. But Alena sensed she was not alone. The dark side - which she had been trying to ignore for so long - was calling to her. This dark energy was bound to a body. For this mch, Alena was certain. Alena had no intention of avoiding it, and soon, the two women would collide.
Celeste Morne had been stranded on this moon since her memorable encounter with Darth Vader, nearly thirty years ago. Vader had plans to usurp his master, Lord Sidious. To accomplish this task, he would need help - an apprentice of his own. And he had Celeste in mind. For Celeste Morne was not just any ordinary force user. She was a Knight of the Old Republic, and possessor or an ancient Sith artifact, the Muur Talisman.
The Muur Talisman was created by Sith Lord Karnass Muur during the Old Repulic Era. Its purpose was to turn others into mindless thralls that Karnass Muur could command. The power was transferred to all that possessed the artifact. But with this power, turmoil followed. The owner of the Talisman would be haunted by the spirit of Karnass Muur, who would fight for control over the host body. Thus when the Talisman latched onto Celeste Morne in 3,965 BBY, she found herself a servant to the Talisman's will, and a threat to peace in the Galaxy. Knowing she was a danger to herself and those around her, Celeste begged Jedi padawan, Zayne Carrick, to end her life. But Zayne proposed what he felt was a better plan. Placing her in Dreypa's Oubliette, a statis chamber, he sent Celeste to the Covenant, hoping to bring her to Covenant researchers to remove the Talisman. When Cassuss Fett bombarded the ship, Zayne presumed Celeste to be dead. For 4,000 years, Celeste slept, until Darth Vader discovered her caskette and awoke her.
Vader tried to turn Celeste to his cause, longing for the abilities the Muur Talisman would bring him. But Celeste saw through his promises of power and destiny, forseeing his plans to corrupt the Galaxy in tyranny and ruin. She would not join him, and she could not allow the Muur Talisman to fall into his possession. The two battled for its ownership, and it was clear Celeste could not defeat him - not on her own.
Feeding into the Talisman's energy, Celeste found the strength to overpower Vader, turning his own stormtroopers against him. Darth Vader fled in failure - never would he usurp his master. Thus Celeste was left to live in isolation, bound to the Spirit of Karnass Muur, and he bound to her. Several other wanderers would fall into her path, each longing for the Talisman with corrupt motives - each of which Celeste slayed. She would wait until she met one worthy of the Talisman's blessings, and strong enough to endure its curse....
he two women dueled as Vader and Celeste had, but with different aims. Alena did not long for the Sith artifact which Celeste wore around her neck, unuaware of its meaning. Celeste initially attacked out of mistrust - and rightfully so. Celeste had sensed darkness within Alena, but she also felt there was a goodness buried within. Celeste wondered about this woman, curious as to why she did not long for the Talisman's powers. As the two women battled, they reached the highest cliff on the desert moon. Alena fought bravely, and overcame the Talisman's deceptions. But she would not defeat Celeste. The ancient knight unarmed Alena, striking her to the ground as her dual sabers tumbled over the cliff. But Celeste spared her, taking this opportunity to search into Alena's past and uncover her mystery. Reading Alena's memory, Celeste learned of Alena's roots in the Jedi, her fall to the dark side, and her true motivation for fighting alongside the Empire - the protection of her family and loved ones. Celeste also meditated on Alena's future, forseeing an opportunity for Alena to use the Talisman for good rather than evil. The Galaxy would be attacked by an outside force, in which both Jedi and Sith alike would unite to overcome. Alena would find herself in their midst.
Aware that Alena had matured in the ways of the Force over the years - findin a balance between the ways of the dark and the light, Celeste made a decision. Bringing both herself and Alena to their feet, Celeste Morne spoke:
"I have long awaited this moment - a chance to be freed from this burden I carry. I am entrusting you to use the gift that I give you for the greater good - rather than the pursuit of your own power..."
The Muur Talisman finally unlatched itself from Celeste's neck, floating in the air and lingering before Alena's admiring eyes. The necklace was shaped like a scorpion and laced in gold, its gems glowing a vibrant red. Celeste continued:
"The Muur Talisman holds great power - you will learn this as you watch those around you succumb to your will. But be careful not to take the Talisman's graces lightly. For with this power comes the struggle to sustain one's self - lest you lose your soul to the spirit of the Talisman."
The Talisman latched itself onto Alena's neck.
"You will be the Protector - as you have been before - to both Jedi and Sith."
With what little information Celeste had given her, Celeste left Alena to ponder these thoughts, disappearing into the vast desert never to be seen again. The red flame in her eyes had not rested since her dealings with Darth Vader. Freed from the Talisman's dark power, they finally returned to their natural blue state. And Celeste felt peace for the first time in years. Yet her experience had brought her wisdom, and she knew the Talisman was not done with her. He would return.
Meanwhile, the glowing gems dimmed on Alena's neck, appearing to be nothing more than a fine piece of jewelry. Alena felt a slight touch of the dark energy it possessed. With that exception, she sensed little change. But the Talisman had its own plans in store for her, which it would reveal in the heat of battle. For the Talisman had also longed to fall into Alena's possession. Alena would soon find herself in the midst of war - a war for control over the Galaxy. If the Talisman could persuade and corrupt her, and Alena proved victorious, he could rule the Galaxy - through her. But for now, the Talisman would remain quietly asleep, until he found the opportune moment to awake.
