Hey all,
I hope that this is the correct forum for this question, as I looked through the whole directory and couldn't find one that sounded more appropriate.
At some point I seem to recall hearing about a Jedi Knight character somewhere in the EU or fan fiction 'verse whose saber hilt had an internal on/off switch that could only be activated by the force.
Given that so many Force FX lightsabers have a power switch whose location makes spins and tricks difficult while at the same increasing the chances that you'll accidentally turn off the saber, I found this idea very attractive.
Not only does it make the saber hilt "cleaner" so you won't accidentally turn it off while wielding it in combat, it also makes sense as a safety measure since very few "average" people could use it against you.
Has anyone heard of this, or is it just some rumor someone made up while they were dreaming of a really cool saber design?

The first book that this was mentioned in (that I can remember) was The Crystal Star. Rillao and Hethrir both made use of this style hilt. Unfortunately, the links provided do not give information about the hilts, and overall, I believe they were just peripheral.
