Hey all,
A SW buddy of mine recently purchased a couple of Nerf swords which we used to enthusiastically beat on each other. They were fun, but our complete lack of training, technique and experience became apparent VERY quickly. We got a great workout out of it, but I'm feeling a very strong desire to learn more!
Now that I have BanditJedi's DVD, I'm interested in learning some basic combat stances, tactics and strategies. While it's fun to do spins and other such moves, most of them are just for show and leave you open to attack in a real fight. I'm interested in this training as a way to one day choreograph an exciting "duel."
I'm ready to learn from someone who will be happy to provide instruction in an fun environment free from any master/student BS and without a long-term commitment to a strict schedule. I'm doing this for fun, NOT because I want to become a gaijin ninja! So later for all that authoritarian crap. I want to learn, but I don't want any of that psychological bullying, I got my fill of that in the Army!
If anyone who reads this understands what I'm looking for and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area (preferably near Albany) I'd love to hear any suggestions you may have of places that I could go to and see what they have to offer.
Many thanks!
Dave S.
