I bought this on sunday morning at Radio shack for 35 bucks.. people go out and get it.. it maynot be a pretty as the others and have mostly plastic peices,..but it is a steal for 35 bucks!
this is my first force FX saber as I never really could afford to buy any of the fancy ones. My buddy has the windu force fx and his wife has the kenobi one so I can compare them. The constructer kit is a little shorter as well.. they are about the size of those 20 dollar electronic toy ones,..((the length i mean)) it is nice to switch out and make your own hilt... like i said befiore..it may not be as fancy as the other force FX sabers,.. but you can customize the hilt and change between red blue and green sabers. and for 35 bucks..it's hard to pass up! I recomend it for that price! Saw the price on radio shack's website... so go and grab one if you are interested..no telling how long they will last in stock. the are only sold in the stores BTW no online ordering.
I'd take some pics but my cord for my cam is messed up at the moment..but I can answer any questions about it.

Welcome to the forum, halloweenghost. I'm in a similar position, except I convinced my parents to get it for me for Christmas. Unfortunately I go to a tech school so I couldn't bring it up here for fear of rabid people...
But its not the worst saber to get, especially if you can get it cheap. The hasbro plastic ones aren't as nice, I think.

Hi, I'm not sure whether I'm posting this question in the correct place so let me know if I haven't. I currently own the Yoda FFX saber and I'm really enjoying it, but I'm looking to expand my collection and I want something that I can be less afraid of breaking. I'm aware of the saber conversions available but I don’t really have the money, I was wondering if this saber construction set is a cheaper alternative? The lack of an LED strip down the blade seems to suggest that the blade is more suitable for taking impacts when dropped or being duelled with.

Well I decided to take a gamble and buy myself the Force FX construction kit as a treat for doing well at uni. It paid off, I'm really enjoying this saber; although it isn't as high quality as the other FFX sabers, it makes for a great stunt saber for duelling and spinning without having the constant fear of damaging the LEDs in the blade. Initially the hilt pieces are quite loose fitting, but after putting a couple of strips of masking tape on the inner blade hilt they all fit quite snugly, although they still creak slightly when some specific hilt combinations are used. Obviously because this model doesn’t have the string of LEDs down the blade it’s dimmer towards the tip, this is quite noticeable in the day but isn’t nearly as bad at night, or in a dark room. I’ve included some photo’s to show the standard hilt combinations available which are based on the Luke EPIV, the Darth Vader EPIV, the Luke EPVI and the Obi-Wan EPIII. There’s also a photo to show the whole kit as it comes in the box. If you want a top quality replica saber for display purposes this isn't the one you're look for, but if you want a more durable stunt-like saber and you can't afford an Ultrasaber or similar conversion this is a great option.

This makes me want one. I saw it at Wal Mart yesterday...although I believe it was a clone wars version where you can create a lightsaber. I am not sure. But I was itching to get one but did not have the money. So I just bought a Capt. Rex figure.

Ive got 4 sabers thus far, one of which is the MR Construction kit. I didnt mind it but will have to admit its my least favourite. Shorter blade, doesnt have the same force-tastic feel to it and sadly yes much less brilliant glow. But same cool FX and the versatility of being able to design your own. Im hoping my Mace Windu Saber thats on its way will make up for it. Check out the pic and you will notice the Construction Kit Saber by its duller blade. img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image057ly1.jpg
