My fifth favorite out of the 6. It was awesome to see Young Obi-Wan and see how it all started. With little Anakin, just seeing how cute and innocent he was and knowing he would be the cause of all the pain and suffering was just WOW. Jar Jae Binks was funny too.

I'm probably in the minority, but I liked it. The only bad points for me all involved Jar Jar Binks / Gungans. The rest of the movie stands up well.
Given the fact it was the first Star Wars movie for 14/15 years, I thought it was pretty good. Looking at it from the perspective of setting the scene and introducing the characters, I thought it was great in fact.
Shame that Darth Maul had to die though - I thought he could well have just been injured instead and maybe reappeared in Episode III, (taking the place of Grievious, who truth be told, was a little disappointing as a 'new bad guy' character).

I think what was disapointing about Grievious was he was so bad ass in clone wars 1,and im the movie not so bad ass.

Good point, he was a lot better in the Clone Wars series, now that you mention it.

i would give it a 7, but for some reason it wouldnt let me vote
7 because the gungans are annoying and little anakin is annoying and qui gon dies and darth maul gets chopped down
i think it could have been cooler if those two characters developed more

would give a 3 or a 4 maximum . jar jar stinks and the kid they chose to play anakin were annoying more than anything else . the whole movie was nothing but the infantile style that was started with the stupid ewoks in ROTJ and this time , pushed to new extremes worthy of a cheap production for disney channel . the only good point of the movie was the duel with maul , but then again , that was short lived since the only two interesting characters of this movie were killed off . this thing almost made me loose all hope on SW movies .

I liked Ep I, it's not my favorite, but it has grown on me. I thought Jar Jar was entertaining, a little out of place, but entertaining nonetheless. I didn't like the kid they chose for Anakin, he just seemed way too young, considering NP's Padame, and that she hasn't really aged very much, lol. It was still very exciting to watch, even repeatedly, and the pod race is pretty fun and exciting.

I give it a 5. It had its moments...and i agree about the Kid who played Anakin. Qui Gon had not nearly enough time as far as i am Concerned...he should have at least lasted into ATOC.
That leads me to the battle with Maul..the highlight of the Movie,IMO.
TPM, does explain quite a few things such as the BASIC elements that gives one the ability to use the Force, and How Anakin came to be Obiwans apprentice...ect. IMO, not worth more than a 5 .

Very good points...and yes, Qui Gon, to be such a big player in this movie really had an anti-climactic end...he should have been there in Ep II, or to start Anakin's training, or at least in spirit to guide Obiwan.

My rating for TPM is 10. I'm surprised, that nobody else voted for 10. Phantom Menace has such an interesting storyline and it's very beautiful movie. It has bunch of pluses, but one bad thing is...Ja-Ja Binks! I don't like him at all. Why Lucas made him so stupid? Even Boss Nass is smarter! About my rating: Don't forget, that TPM was started from 0, and Lucas had to create many things, and that was very difficult. AOTC and ROTS were more easy to make, because everything was invented in TPM. Phantom Menace is my lovest episode of all.

I agree with all of yoru points, yet I rated it a 7. When I think of all the worse films out there, I think it's not that bad, overall. THe whole big grey thing in the sky that blows up is a rehash of the Death Star. By now, it has become formulaic...Someone should have thought up something different. Why did Lucas cast that boy as young Anakin? His acting is awfull. Seems like a foretaste of thngs to come, with Hayden who also seems poor. This from the man who discovered Harrison Ford? Has Lucas gone soft in the head, or something? Qui-gon and Darth Maul are the most interesting characters and, like Bobba Fett, are killed off too quickly.

I actually didn't mind teh Gungins, although Jar Jar does my head in. Why does he survive, while Darth Maul dies? My evil ex-wife, who eventually turns to the dark side, subjected me to endless, "How Wrood!" after seeing this film with me. Oy Vey! Figures she would like Jar Jar.

I would rate it 7. When I saw it the first time I rated it like around 5 out of 10 and I was really disappointed about it, but I have learned to tolerate it a bit during these years. The con's about TPM are Jake Lloyd as Anakin, J.J.B and pro's John Williams music, Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.
