I checked out the ultrasabers site. Looks pretty interesting, but from what I read there are not sound effects though, and does anyone know if their sabers have the have the effects of the blade assending when you turn it on and the deassending when you turn it off??? Shoot I have no problems with purchasing either one, and probably will purchase my collection from both companies. But it would still be awesome if you had the sound when dueling. If they have this feature let me know.

You missed it (though their site keeps improving so it may be a recent add), they state quite clearly that their Ultra FX (or FX conversions) all have the sound. In fact, they cannot convert your FX for you unless the sound is still functional on your FX. As for the blade glow activation, their FAQ now details that they don't have that. If you get a saber based on the LED boards from corbinscomponents.com you can have a kind of activation glow (not a true scroll through), read at Corbin's site about it, just a glow that ramps-up and is sort of like an activation glow, except when you go that route you definitely cannot have sound.

I just picked up my my two FX conversions from Ultrasabers today, (I live close to the shop so I didn't have to deal with shipping). All I can say is awesome! The quality of the work was great. They were fast and great to deal with. I haven't had a chance to bash the heck out of them yet with someone but I'm sure it will be great. They are as bright or brighter than MR. I thought that I may miss the scrolling effect but you hardly notice it. I will post some pix soon.

I'm really looking to get one of these, as well as upgrading my Obi-Wan. I'm thinking an orange or yellow Luke (ROTJ) to match my ROTS Obi. What I want to know is how the blade is secured in the hilt. Any info on that would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ultrasabers uses either the existing hardware or an upgrade to a metal blade holder. The existing holder on the FX is what I chose. I don't think you need more than that. The way the blade is secured depends on the model. I had two Vaders done. One uses a set screw that you just loosen and the blade comes out. The other I had upgraded to a different shroud so it resembles an Anakin Attack of the Clones. That one has a thumb screw that is easily tightened down on the blade, and easily removed.

Are these screws somewhere on the outside of the hilt? My Obi-Wan ROTS's FX blade is becoming a bit wobbly after excessive dueling, so I'm assuming that would mean an upgrade to a metal blade holder? I don't want a screw on the outside of the hilt, but I want the blade to still be easily removeable without having to take apart the hilt to get it off. If anyone could post any pics of how they dissasemble an Ultrasaber, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would have to agree with the others when they say they are reluctant to get it modded... After shelling out that much cash, I don't think I'd be too willing to part with mine.

Like another poster said, they have been around awhile. I recently sent my darth maul double bladed over and the gentlemen emailed me to let me know he had received it. Ultrasabers is mentioned on a few other boards and one of the guys (it's a two man operation I think), posts over at theforce.net. I have never once heard of a problem with them. Not to mention that they have an ebay store with an incredible feedback rating.

This is awesome! Love the demo video. I'll have to get myself some of this stuff for my movies.
